GEPRC Vapor D5 O4 Pro Battery Selection Guide (6S | XT60)

The GEPRC Vapor D5 O4 Pro pairs perfectly with 6S LiPo batteries. Its 5-inch frame and DJI O4 camera demand steady voltage delivery and high-discharge capability. Using premium packs like CNHL Black or Speed Pizza Series ensures stable power output and reduced voltage sag during freestyle maneuvers or long HD flights.

Choose by Flying Style and Capacity

  • Freestyle / Agile Response: 1300–1500 mAh packs with high C-rating (150C +).
  • Balanced Performance: 1800 mAh for smooth throttle control and moderate flight time.
  • Long Range / Cinematic: 2200–3200 mAh for 14–19 min of flight under light throttle.

Connector and Compatibility

The Vapor D5 uses an XT60 connector. EC5 batteries are also supported through adapters. Both standard LiPo and LiHV versions work well if your ESC supports HV charging. Note that this page covers standard FPV setups only — DJI Avata and DJI FPV use smart batteries that cannot be replaced with CNHL packs.

Cold Weather and Battery Care

Keep your packs warm before flight, avoid charging below 10 °C, and always store around 3.8 V per cell when idle. Inspect for swelling or damaged wires after each session. CNHL LiPos offer excellent consistency under extreme conditions.

FAQ

Q1: What battery size works best for the GEPRC Vapor D5?
A 6S 1300–1800 mAh battery is ideal for freestyle; 2200–3200 mAh extends flight time for cinematic runs.

Q2: Can I really get 14–19 minutes of flight time?
Under gentle cruise and warm conditions, yes. Heavy throttle and cold weather reduce that significantly.

Q3: Can I use Li-ion packs (18650)?
Only in summer for slow long-range flights. Li-ion cells sag in cold and limit burst power.

Q4: Does the O4 system affect battery choice?
The DJI O4 Air Unit draws more current than O3; high C-rating packs (≥100C) are recommended.

Q5: Any tips for mounting larger batteries?
Use dual straps and check center of gravity. Heavier packs increase momentum and noise, so balance carefully.
