The Hobbywing QUICRUN Fusion 8IGHT 2300KV is an integrated FOC brushless ESC and motor system developed for 1/8-scale RC crawlers. Instead of mounting a separate ESC and motor, the Fusion 8IGHT combines both into one 42mm-diameter power unit, simplifying wiring while delivering the higher current capability, larger motor format and receiver-side power needed by heavier crawler platforms.
With an 80A continuous / 240A peak ESC, 2-4S LiPo support, 2300KV motor, RPM Matching closed-loop speed control, adjustable drag brake, IP67 protection and a powerful 6V / 7.4V / 8.4V BEC rated at 6A continuous and up to 13A peak, the Fusion 8IGHT is built around controlled low-speed crawling rather than high-speed basher performance.

The Fusion 8IGHT combines the ESC electronics and 2300KV motor inside one integrated assembly. This removes the need for a separate ESC mounting location and eliminates the three external motor phase wires normally used between a standalone brushless ESC and motor.
For large crawler chassis, that means cleaner wiring and more flexibility when positioning the receiver, battery, servo electronics, winch controller and scale accessories.
The motor body measures 42mm in diameter and 69mm long, so installation should still be checked carefully against the transmission, links and surrounding chassis components.
The Fusion 8IGHT uses Field-Oriented Control to manage motor torque precisely at low RPM. This gives a large crawler smoother throttle response when approaching rocks, ledges and technical terrain where abrupt wheel movement can reduce traction or upset the chassis.
The FOC system also operates quietly and efficiently, reducing unnecessary electrical loss and motor noise during slow crawler operation. Actual temperature and runtime still depend on battery voltage, gearing, vehicle weight, terrain and driving style.
In Forward / Reverse RPM Matching mode, closed-loop speed control automatically adjusts motor torque when drivetrain resistance changes.
During a climb, the controller can increase torque output as resistance rises so vehicle speed stays closer to the driver's throttle request. On descents, closed-loop control helps stabilize speed for a more controlled downhill feel.
This automatic torque compensation applies to RPM Matching mode. In the two Normal modes, vehicle speed changes naturally as load and terrain resistance change.
The Fusion 8IGHT provides three crawler-oriented operating modes:
The QUICRUN Fusion 8IGHT supports 2S, 3S and 4S LiPo batteries as well as 6-12 cell NiMH packs.
Its 80A continuous / 240A peak current capability gives the system substantially more electrical headroom than smaller Fusion crawler systems, making it appropriate for the heavier drivetrain loads found in 1/8-scale crawler platforms.
Battery voltage should still be selected together with gearing, tire diameter, vehicle weight and the required wheel speed. A 4S setup should not automatically be treated as the best choice for every crawler.
The built-in switch-mode BEC is one of the most important differences between the Fusion 8IGHT and smaller Fusion systems. It delivers 6A continuous current with peak capability up to 13A.
Select from 6V, 7.4V or 8.4V to match the voltage requirements of the receiver, steering servo and other receiver-side electronics.
This makes the Fusion 8IGHT particularly useful for large crawlers using high-torque steering servos, compatible high-voltage servos, lighting systems or winch-related electronics.
Important: never set BEC voltage above the maximum operating voltage of the receiver, servo or other connected equipment.
When running a 2S LiPo, the BEC cannot maintain a regulated 7.4V or 8.4V output throughout the complete battery discharge. Hobbywing recommends using 3S or 4S LiPo when regulated 7.4V or 8.4V BEC output is required.
The Fusion 8IGHT includes a dedicated yellow AUX signal cable. Connect it to an unused receiver channel and assign that channel to a compatible transmitter knob or switch to adjust Drag Brake Force while driving.
The highest AUX signal corresponds to the programmed Drag Brake Force, while reducing the channel signal progressively reduces braking force. At the lowest signal, drag brake is reduced to zero.
This lets the driver adapt hill-holding behavior to different terrain without stopping to reconnect a programming box.
Drag Brake Force and Drag Brake Rate can be tuned independently:
Drag Brake Force determines the final holding force when the throttle returns to neutral. Drag Brake Rate determines how aggressively that force is applied.
When Drag Brake Rate is set to Auto, the system adjusts the brake application rate according to current draw. Higher load results in a softer application rate, helping reduce the chance of upsetting the vehicle or shocking the drivetrain while still retaining precise low-speed control.
The complete Fusion 8IGHT power system carries an IP67 protection rating.
This gives the system strong resistance to water and dust during normal crawler use involving rain, mud, splashes, sand and snow.
IP67 should not be interpreted as permanent waterproofing or permission for prolonged submersion. Protection can also decline over time due to impacts, seal wear or aging. Clean, dry and inspect the system after demanding wet or muddy use.
The QUICRUN Fusion 8IGHT provides thirteen programmable settings:
The Fusion 8IGHT continuously monitors LiPo voltage while low-voltage protection is enabled.
When the selected threshold is reached, motor output is progressively reduced to approximately 50%, and after approximately 40 seconds power output is disabled.
The cutoff may be disabled for applications such as NiMH batteries, but low-voltage protection should normally remain active when using LiPo packs.
The Fusion 8IGHT uses an independent 3-pin programming port integrated into the electronic switch.
Supported programming devices include:
The LCD Program Box Pro can be used for parameter adjustment, but Bluetooth tuning is not supported. Hobbywing OTA Programmer support and online firmware upgrades are not available for this system.
Programming devices are sold separately unless specifically stated otherwise in the package listing.
The Fusion 8IGHT uses a larger motor mounting pattern appropriate to its 42mm motor format.
Always verify screw length before installation. Screws extending beyond the specified mounting-hole depth can damage the internal motor structure.
Built-in protection functions include:
If thermal protection is triggered, motor output is reduced before eventually being shut down. Normal output can automatically return after system temperature drops sufficiently.
Short-press the electronic switch to power the system on and long-press it to switch the system off.
The same switch housing contains the independent programming port used with supported Hobbywing programming boxes.
The battery should still be physically disconnected after every driving session. The system can continue drawing a small amount of current even while switched off.
The red wire in the throttle lead supplies internal BEC power to the receiver and servo system.
Do not connect another BEC or receiver battery to the same receiver power bus while the Fusion 8IGHT internal BEC remains connected.
If a separate receiver power source is required, remove or disconnect the red BEC wire from the throttle lead and insulate it securely before connecting external receiver power.
Throttle calibration should be completed before first use and whenever the transmitter, receiver or throttle-channel settings are changed.
The calibration process stores three positions:
Because the Fusion 8IGHT is a high-power 1/8 crawler system, Hobbywing strongly recommends removing the pinion gear or otherwise ensuring that the drivetrain cannot move the vehicle during calibration and programming.
If the motor experiences severe impact, abnormal heating or abnormal power output, an optional automatic motor-pairing procedure is available.
The throttle lead must be disconnected and the motor separated from the gearbox so it remains unloaded. The motor does not rotate during the automatic pairing process.
It is an integrated 2300KV FOC brushless motor and ESC system designed primarily for 1/8 RC crawlers and large-scale rock crawler applications.
It supports 2S, 3S and 4S LiPo batteries or 6-12 cell NiMH packs.
The integrated ESC is rated at 80A continuous current and 240A peak current.
Yes. In Forward / Reverse RPM Matching mode, closed-loop control automatically adjusts motor torque as vehicle resistance changes so speed stays closer to the driver's throttle request.
Yes. Connect the yellow AUX signal cable to an unused receiver channel and assign the channel to a compatible transmitter control to adjust Drag Brake Force in real time.
The switch-mode BEC provides 6A continuous current with peak capability up to 13A and selectable 6V, 7.4V or 8.4V output.
A 2S LiPo cannot maintain a regulated 8.4V output throughout its discharge cycle. Hobbywing recommends using a 3S or 4S LiPo when regulated 7.4V or 8.4V BEC output is required.
The system supports Hobbywing LED Program Box, LCD Program Box G2 and LCD Program Box Pro. OTA programming is not supported.
The complete system carries an IP67 protection rating for normal exposure to water and dust. It should not be treated as permanently waterproof or intentionally left submerged for extended periods.
No universal-fit claim should be made. Confirm the 42mm motor diameter, 69mm body length, 5mm shaft, 18.5mm exposed shaft length, 25.4mm mounting circle, gearbox clearance and drivetrain gearing before purchase.
