Motor KV figures are recommended values for conventional applications. They must be considered together with the motor's supported RPM and the actual load of the complete vehicle.
Extreme-Speed Power from 6S to 12S
The MAX5 HV Plus G2 is designed for applications where conventional large-scale ESC performance is no longer enough. In addition to its official 350A / 2000A specification, Hobbywing's product material publishes voltage-specific continuous-current capability of up to 500A on 8S and 330A on 12S.
These figures should not be interpreted as a continuous target for every installation. Battery internal resistance, connectors, motor load, wiring, gearing and cooling determine what the complete system can safely sustain.
AS150 Anti-Spark Battery Connectors
The MAX5 HV Plus G2 is supplied with AS150 anti-spark battery connectors on its heavy 8AWG input wiring. This is especially useful with a 6-12S ESC carrying a large internal capacitor bank because connection current can otherwise create a strong electrical arc.
Anti-spark connectors help reduce connector arcing and wear, but correct polarity and appropriate connector current capacity remain essential.

Because Bluetooth is already built in, an OTA Programmer is not required simply to use the mobile app.
Large 4080μF Built-In Capacitor Bank
The MAX5 HV Plus G2 integrates a high-capacity 4080μF capacitor bank into the ESC itself, reducing the need for a separate external capacitor module in its intended high-power applications.
The ESC also includes dedicated capacitor overheat protection. If capacitor thermal protection is triggered, investigate gearing, system load, battery condition and cooling rather than repeatedly restarting the ESC without correcting the cause.
Up to 24° Turbo Timing
Turbo Timing can add electronic timing at full throttle to increase motor RPM and top-end speed. The MAX5 HV Plus G2 supports up to 24° Turbo Timing.
With the intended Hobbywing EZRUN 5690 / 56118 SD G2 sensored motor system, product material states a maximum-speed increase of approximately up to 18%.
Turbo Timing is not free power. Increasing timing raises motor RPM, current and temperature. The supplied product material also states that the Turbo function is intended for compatible Hobbywing matching motors and cannot simply be assumed to operate with every third-party motor.

Do Not Double-Power the Receiver
The MAX5 HV Plus G2 throttle lead supplies BEC voltage to the receiver. Do not connect another receiver power supply while the ESC BEC output remains connected.
If an external BEC or separate receiver battery is required, isolate the ESC's red BEC wire from the receiver connection before applying the second power source.
IP67 Waterproof and Dustproof Protection
The MAX5 HV Plus G2 uses an IP67-rated enclosure and waterproof-oriented sensor interface to better handle dust, water, mud, snow and other demanding RC environments.
IP67 protection is not permanent. Sealing can deteriorate with age and use, and the ESC should not be left submerged for prolonged periods. After wet or dirty running, clean, dry and inspect the power system before the next session.

ESC Thermal Protection
The MAX5 HV Plus G2 adds a programmable ESC Thermal Protection setting. When enabled, the ESC reduces power after reaching the protection threshold and can shut down output after approximately 40 seconds if the overheating condition continues.
Disabling thermal protection removes this safeguard. Operating an extreme-power system without thermal protection should only be considered when the consequences are fully understood.
Punch
Punch adjusts overall acceleration response. Higher values produce a more aggressive launch, while lower settings can help control wheelspin, drivetrain shock and motor hesitation on lower-traction surfaces.
6-12S LiPo Cell Setting
The operating range for the MAX5 HV Plus G2 is 6-12S LiPo. Set the LiPo cell count according to the actual battery configuration, especially when automatic recognition may not reliably identify the pack state.
The shared EZRUN parameter table contains settings used across MAX8 G2S, MAX6 G2 and MAX5 HV Plus G2, but the MAX5 HV Plus G2 operating range remains 6-12S.
Sensored and Sensorless Motor Support
The MAX5 HV Plus G2 supports both sensored and sensorless brushless motors.
When using a sensored motor, ESC phases A, B and C must connect to the matching A, B and C motor phases, and the sensor cable must be installed correctly. If the sensor cable is disconnected, a sensored motor will operate in sensorless mode.
With a sensorless motor, fixed phase sequencing is not required; swap any two motor wires if rotation is incorrect.
