They are great batteries and they have excellent pricing. Love the flash sales. Long lasting quality and hold up well thru many cycles.
Just got 6 flights on the plane today. Plane is what I’ve read for the last year on the internet-outstanding! On as scale of 1-10 it’s and 11. Flies like an older pattern plane from the 80’s and 90’s, which means smooth! I added 1 ounce of weight in the tail like on 2 Brothers and Steffan RC, and with a 5000mah battery all the way back, it’s still a little nose heavy, but it’s perfect for me. I also needed much more elevator/aileron/rudder throws than what was in the manual. With 100% travel volumes, I’m using 90% for my low rates and it does everything I need. I think for the price point this airplane is a bargain, and the landing gear is excellent, and I operate on grass.
This plane looks and flies great. Thanks to BrianPhillipsRC and Two Brothers Radio Control youtube channels.
Could not be happier. Everything from the planes package too the included battery is absolutely perfect. I own other batteries from CHL and they have great batteries in all sizes and great deals for the price. Batteries hold up very well and long cycles. Many of them are Buy one get one for a great price. Strongly recommend doing business with them. Lastly very good for delivery as well. Very fast from purchase to delivery.
I purchased the Super Tucano and flew it twice today. I did have to remove some of the Styrofoam block to slide my 5200 Ma battery back a little bit to get the right CG but other than that it went exceedingly well. I commend CHNL for a prompt response and a very quick ship time to my home in Western NC. Packaged arrived as promised with everything well protected. I would have liked some more info about gluing the two halves together. Got some misleading guidance about using foam glue and it almost turned into a disaster. I caught it tin time and switched to epoxy and it turned out well. Maiden went well. My throws were super sensitive, far more than any plane I have ever flown but once I made some expo adjustments and throw rates it was a lot better. Still working on the flaps. Currently the landing flaps pitch the plane nose up at a pretty steep angle and I am working to soften that. The plane did land extremely well with 0 flaps so expecting great results when I get it dialed in. I am not a pro by a long shot but I was impressed with the ground handling and landings. Both parts were extremely smooth. The gear did excellent on our grass field. Its a good field but can be bumpy. The Tucano handled it with ease.High marks for every aspect and extremely high marks for CNHL for their no cost delivery!!!! Love that.
This is one of those airplanes that can fit the novice to the advanced flier.
PROS:
1. Easy to fly. First flight was a dream. Didn’t push it, but, did a couple rolls. It landed with authority with very like to no power and got about 5 minutes on a 6S 5000mah. End voltage was around 4.82. Take off was a dream straight lineup and lifted after about 400’ of runway. No issues
2. Easy build. About 8 3mm screws and the plane was together other than the spinner. Everything fit like a glove. Build time was less than 2 hours plus the PolyCrylic Paint. That takes about 4-6 hours depending on the temperature and ability.
3. Electronics. The motor has great power and is very smooth. The ESC seems to be the proper size and helps the motor. Didn’t put a watt meter on it, but I let the mfg.. figure that out on this plane. Has a yellow wire, I believe it may be for reverse, but the instructions say nothing about it. So I have not hooked it up. No need in my case since our run way is 800’ long. The servos seem to work well after 4 flights with enough authority for knife edges, turns with rudder only and Emmimelmensan, inverted flight as well as large loops with full throttle on the downward side. Maybe a little soft on the elevator and that may be due to an undersized servo.
4. Finish. Love the fact all decals are installed. The paint is very good and seems to adhere to the foam well, with no flaking. The foam is very good quality with no puffing on the surface.
5. Landing gear. Very nice and detailed doors and struts. Heavy duty and should take considerable impact. However, on my landings all were in a 2mph wind down the run way, so the plane was like a butterfly with sore feet. I used both flaps and no flaps and the landing were about the same.
6.Balance: The CG of 80mm for the size battery (5000mah) is spot on. I like a little more tail heavier and The compartment is large enough to allow for the size and larger, depending on Mfg.
CONS: Very few if any for a foam airplane. The cost is in the ball park since considering this is a PNP plane and then CHNL throws in a battery as well. HobbyKing did not.
In summation, I don’t think you can go wrong on this plane, if it fits your style of plane. It’s not a trainer, but very close. I was able to get the plane in the air after about 10-20’ of paved run way. I would say on grass it should get in the air quickly, just give it full throttle and up she goes.
Done nearly 100 flights on my Tucano now. The model is a real crowd puller and an absolute delight to fly straight from the box.
