The Hobbywing QUICRUN WP Mini24 is a compact 25A waterproof ESC developed for 1/24 vehicles and 1/18 or 1/16 micro RC crawlers. It supports both sensorless brushless and brushed motors, allowing builders to keep an existing small brushed setup or move to a compatible brushless outrunner without changing to a completely different ESC platform.

Despite its small 28.1 × 17.9 × 12mm case, the Mini24 supports 2S–3S LiPo batteries, a selectable 6V/7.4V switch-mode BEC, real-time drag-brake adjustment through a transmitter AUX channel, an independent programming port and 13 crawler-focused adjustable parameters.

Important: select the correct Motor Type before operating the vehicle. The factory default is Brushless. When using a brushed motor, connect it through the correct A/C brushed-motor wiring arrangement and change Motor Type to Brushed. Selecting the wrong mode can prevent normal operation or damage the power system.

Designed for Smaller-Scale Crawlers

The Mini24 is designed around the space, weight and low-speed control requirements of micro RC platforms. Its compact case is easier to position in a crowded 1/24 chassis than a conventional 1/10 ESC, while the 25A continuous rating provides a practical power range for compatible small brushed motors and sensorless brushless outrunners.

The ESC is also suitable for selected 1/18 and 1/16 crawlers when the motor, gearing, battery voltage and vehicle load remain within its operating range. Scale alone does not guarantee compatibility, so always confirm motor demand, connector type, installation space and temperature.

Why Choose the QUICRUN WP Mini24?

Micro Crawler Dimensions

The 28.1 × 17.9 × 12mm case is designed for space-limited small-scale chassis.

Brushed and Brushless Modes

Use a compatible small brushed motor or a sensorless brushless outrunner.

2S–3S LiPo Support

Choose battery voltage according to the motor, gearing and vehicle load.

Real-Time Drag Brake

Adjust neutral-position hill-holding force from a compatible transmitter AUX channel.

Selectable BEC Voltage

Choose 6V or 7.4V for compatible receivers and steering servos.

Independent Programming Port

Connect a compatible LED or LCD programming box without using the throttle lead.

Real-Time Drag Brake Adjustment

The independent programming port can also function as an AUX input. Connect it to an available receiver channel using a suitable signal cable, then assign that channel to a transmitter knob, dial or switch.

This allows the driver to change drag-brake force while the crawler is moving. A higher setting provides stronger neutral-position holding on steep rock faces, while a lower setting allows the vehicle to roll more naturally on smoother trail sections.

The AUX function is optional. When no spare receiver channel is available, the AUX cable can remain disconnected and Drag Brake Force can be set through a compatible program box.

Heat warning: drag brake consumes power and creates heat. Use the amount needed for the terrain rather than automatically selecting the maximum value.

IP67 Protection for Wet and Dusty Conditions

The Mini24 uses a waterproof design intended for normal exposure to splashes, wet terrain, dust and sand. This makes it better suited to outdoor micro-crawler use than an open, unprotected competition ESC.

IP67 protection does not mean the ESC should remain underwater. Water and dust resistance can decline through impact, aging, damaged wiring seals or repeated wear. Do not soak the ESC for extended periods, and dry the vehicle after wet use.

Integrated Waterproof Power Switch

The ESC uses an integrated push-button power switch rather than a separate mechanical slide switch. This reduces the risk of contact corrosion, switch jamming and accidental shutdown caused by dirt, moisture or impact.

Short-press the power button to switch the ESC on. Long-press the button to switch it off. The battery must still be disconnected after every run because a small standby current remains even when the system is switched off.

6V and 7.4V Switch-Mode BEC

The built-in BEC provides 2A continuous output and allows the voltage to be set to either 6.0V or 7.4V. The supplied product material also states a maximum output of up to 6A.

BEC Setting Typical Application Check Before Use
6.0V Standard receiver and micro-servo systems Recommended starting point when the electronics are not marked as high voltage
7.4V Compatible high-voltage steering servos Receiver, servo and accessories must all be rated for 7.4V

Do not select a BEC voltage higher than the maximum operating voltage of the connected receiver or servo. The higher setting is not automatically better and can damage standard-voltage electronics.

Sensorless Brushless and Brushed Motor Support

The Mini24 can operate two different motor categories, but Motor Type must always match the installed motor.

Motor Mode Typical Motors Connection Direction Adjustment
Sensorless Brushless QUICRUN Outer 1621; suitable 1212 and 1806 outrunners PH2.0 3-pin motor connection Exchange two motor wires where applicable or change Motor Rotation through a program box
Brushed Suitable 050, 130 and 180 brushed motors Use the brushed adapter cable and the A/C output arrangement Exchange the two motor wires or change Motor Rotation

Motor Mode warning: the factory default is Brushless. Change Motor Type to Brushed before running a brushed motor. Incorrect mode selection can cause abnormal operation.

Thirteen adjustable crawler parameters for Hobbywing QUICRUN WP Mini24 ESC

FOC Power and Low-Speed Throttle

FOC Power increases torque in the lower portion of the throttle range when using a sensorless brushless motor. Higher values can improve climbing force, but they also increase motor temperature and electrical load.

Low Speed Throttle determines how much of the trigger range is treated as the low-speed region. For example, a 60% setting means the first 60% of trigger travel is allocated to low-speed control.

FOC Power Options

Disabled, 9%, 12%, 15%, 18%, 21%, 24%, 27% or 30%.

Low-Speed Throttle Options

10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 40%, 60%, 80% or 100%.

Begin with moderate values and check motor temperature before increasing either setting.

Drag Brake Force vs Drag Brake Rate

Drag Brake Force

Determines how strongly the crawler holds when the throttle returns to neutral.

Drag Brake Rate

Determines how quickly the selected holding force is applied.

A strong force with a soft rate can provide firm hill holding without an abrupt stop. An aggressive rate applies drag brake more quickly but may make a short-wheelbase micro crawler feel jerky.

Low-Voltage Cutoff Protection

Setting Approximate Threshold Use
Disabled No automatic cutoff Not recommended for LiPo batteries
Low Approximately 2.8V per cell Later intervention with less voltage reserve
Medium Approximately 3.1V per cell Balanced general-use setting
High Approximately 3.4V per cell Earlier protection with more voltage reserve

When low-voltage protection is activated, the ESC gradually reduces output to approximately 50% and later cuts drive output. Do not disable cutoff protection when using a LiPo battery unless another reliable battery-protection method is in place.

Protection Functions

Motor Lock-Up Protection

Helps protect the power system when the drivetrain or motor cannot rotate normally.

Low-Voltage Cutoff

Reduces and cuts output when LiPo voltage falls below the selected threshold.

Thermal Protection

Limits operation when ESC temperature becomes excessive.

Overload Protection

Helps protect the ESC when electrical demand exceeds the intended operating range.

Throttle Signal Loss Protection

Stops normal motor operation when the receiver loses a valid throttle signal.

Motor-Type Error Warning

Red and green LEDs flash together when the selected Motor Type does not match the connected motor.

Protection functions reduce risk but cannot correct unsuitable gearing, an overloaded motor, damaged wiring or incorrect setup. Repeated protection activation means the cause should be identified before further use.

Throttle Calibration

Calibrate the throttle range before first use, after replacing the transmitter or receiver, or after changing throttle trim or endpoints.

  1. Turn on the transmitter and return throttle trim, EPA, D/R and ATL settings to their normal 100% or neutral positions.
  2. Connect the ESC to the battery while leaving the ESC switched off.
  3. Hold the ESC power button until the red LED flashes and the motor beeps, then release the button.
  4. Leave the trigger at neutral and press the power button. The green LED flashes once.
  5. Pull full throttle and press the power button. The green LED flashes twice.
  6. Push full reverse or brake and press the power button. The green LED flashes three times.

Keep the driven wheels clear of the ground during calibration. Motor beeps can be quiet on some small motors, so use the LED flashes as the main confirmation if necessary.

LED Status Guide

  • Startup: the green LED flashes according to the detected LiPo cell count.
  • No throttle signal or neutral: the red LED may remain on during startup until a valid signal is detected.
  • Forward: red LED remains on; green LED also lights at full throttle.
  • Reverse: red LED remains on; green LED may also light at the full reverse endpoint when maximum brake force is 100%.
  • Low-voltage protection: repeating single red flash.
  • Thermal protection: repeating single green flash.
  • Motor-type error: red and green LEDs flash simultaneously.
