Freewing Eurofighter Typhoon V2 Battery Guide for 6S and 8S

The Freewing Eurofighter Typhoon V2 90mm EDF Jet is available with either a 6S power system or an 8S High Performance power system. Both versions use the same 1030mm wingspan, 1450mm fuselage, scale landing gear, working airbrake, quick-disconnect wings, formation lights and factory-installed EG01 gyro.

The important difference is inside the power system. The 6S version uses a 3668-1980Kv inrunner and a single 6S flight battery. The 8S version uses a larger 4075-1350Kv inrunner and normally combines two 4S batteries in series. This collection brings both versions together so pilots can compare standard-capacity, lightweight and extended-flight battery options without moving between two nearly identical pages.

Quick Battery Fit Guide

Eurofighter Version Battery Configuration Connector CNHL Options Important Check
6S Version One 6S battery EC5 5000mAh to 7800mAh Check pack dimensions, installed weight and CG
8S High Performance Two matching 4S batteries connected in series EC5 with a series adapter 2 x 4S 5000mAh to 7800mAh Use two matching packs and verify combined weight
Single-Pack 8S Alternative One 8S battery QS8 battery with a suitable EC5 connection solution 5000mAh to 7800mAh Adapter, wire routing, battery fit and CG must be confirmed

Freewing also lists a 6S 5000mAh battery combined in series with a 2S 5000mAh battery as an alternative 8S arrangement. A matched pair of 4S batteries is usually easier to manage as a dedicated set because both packs can be purchased, charged, cycled and replaced together.

Best 6S Batteries for the Eurofighter Typhoon V2

The 6S Eurofighter is not simply the lower-performance choice. Flight demonstrations show that the 6S system already has enough power for fast passes, high-alpha flight and controlled delta-wing approaches. Its biggest practical advantage is the straightforward single-battery setup.

CNHL Lightning LiHV 7800mAh 6S 120C with EC5: Best Extended-Flight Option

The CNHL Lightning LiHV 7800mAh 22.8V 6S 120C battery with EC5 is the headline recommendation for pilots who want more flight-time potential from the 6S Eurofighter. In our size and weight comparison, this pack remains close to the commonly recommended 6000mAh battery class while increasing rated capacity to 7800mAh.

That capacity-to-weight advantage is especially relevant in a 90mm EDF jet. Conventional higher-capacity packs often add enough mass to change takeoff, landing and low-speed behavior. The Lightning 7800mAh gives pilots another way to increase usable capacity without automatically moving into the size and weight normally associated with a conventional 7800mAh pack.

Actual flight time still depends on throttle use, airbrake use, external stores, wind conditions and landing reserve. The main advantage is additional energy capacity, not a guaranteed number of extra minutes.

CNHL Racing Series 6200mAh 6S 90C with EC5: Best Balanced Option

The CNHL Racing Series 6200mAh 22.2V 6S 90C battery with EC5 is a practical middle ground. It stays close to the factory capacity range while offering slightly more rated capacity than a conventional 6000mAh pack.

This is a strong choice for pilots who want additional flight reserve but prefer a more conservative step up than the Lightning 7800mAh. It also uses standard 22.2V LiPo chemistry and an EC5 connector for a straightforward connection to the stock aircraft.

CNHL G+Plus 5000mAh 6S with EC5: Standard-Capacity Choice

The CNHL G+Plus 5000mAh 22.2V 6S battery with EC5 follows the standard capacity reference for this model. It is suitable for pilots who prioritize a lighter, more familiar battery setup and do not need the maximum flight-time potential of the larger Lightning packs.

Both the 70C and 100C versions are included in this collection. The 70C pack is the straightforward standard option, while the 100C version provides another choice for pilots who prefer the higher-discharge G+Plus specification.

Additional 6S Capacity Choices

The Lightning 6700mAh and 7200mAh 6S EC5 batteries fill the space between the Racing 6200mAh and flagship 7800mAh recommendation. These intermediate capacities allow pilots to choose how far they want to move toward an endurance-focused setup without immediately selecting the largest pack in the collection.

Best Dual-4S Batteries for the 8S Eurofighter

The factory-style battery arrangement for the 8S High Performance Eurofighter uses two matching 4S batteries connected through an EC5 series adapter. In a series connection, the voltage of the two batteries is added while the capacity remains unchanged.

Dual-4S Combination Resulting System Recommended Use
2 x 4S 5000mAh 8S 5000mAh Factory-capacity baseline
2 x 4S 6000mAh 8S 6000mAh Balanced extended-flight setup
2 x 4S 6700mAh 8S 6700mAh Lightweight high-capacity setup
2 x 4S 7200mAh 8S 7200mAh Higher-capacity endurance setup
2 x 4S 7800mAh 8S 7800mAh Maximum-capacity dual-pack option

Two 4S 5000mAh batteries do not create an 8S 10000mAh battery. The resulting system is 8S 5000mAh because series wiring increases voltage, not amp-hour capacity.

2 x Lightning LiHV 6000mAh 4S 120C EC5: Best Balanced 8S Endurance Setup

Two matching CNHL Lightning LiHV 6000mAh 15.2V 4S 120C batteries with EC5 create an 8S 6000mAh system. This is the most approachable step beyond the factory 5000mAh reference and gives the 8S Eurofighter more capacity without immediately moving to the largest dual-pack configuration.

The lightweight Lightning construction is the key advantage. In an 8S aircraft, every increase in individual pack weight is doubled because two batteries are installed, so capacity-to-weight efficiency matters more than it does in a single-pack 6S setup.

2 x Lightning LiHV 6700mAh or 7200mAh 4S EC5: High-Capacity Choices

The Lightning 6700mAh and 7200mAh 4S batteries are aimed at pilots who want a more substantial increase in usable capacity while retaining the factory-style dual-4S EC5 arrangement. These packs provide a useful middle range between the balanced 6000mAh combination and the maximum-capacity 7800mAh setup.

The 6700mAh pair is the more moderate high-capacity choice. The 7200mAh pair moves closer to maximum endurance while leaving a smaller step in size and weight than jumping directly from 6000mAh to 7800mAh.

2 x Lightning LiHV 7800mAh 4S 120C EC5: Maximum-Capacity Dual-4S Option

For pilots prioritizing maximum flight-time potential, two matching CNHL Lightning LiHV 7800mAh 15.2V 4S 120C batteries with EC5 create an 8S 7800mAh system while retaining the dual-pack arrangement intended for the aircraft.

This is the flagship endurance configuration in the collection. Because the aircraft carries two packs, pilots should pay particular attention to combined battery weight, fore-and-aft placement, secure retention and the final center of gravity. More capacity is useful only when the aircraft can still be balanced correctly and operated within a practical flying weight.

2 x G+Plus 5000mAh 4S EC5: Factory-Capacity Baseline

Two matching CNHL G+Plus 5000mAh 14.8V 4S batteries with EC5 provide the closest CNHL equivalent to the standard dual-4S capacity recommendation. This option is suitable for pilots who prefer to stay near the original battery specification before exploring the higher-capacity Lightning LiHV combinations.

The 5000mAh setup is included as a dependable reference point, but it is not the only sensible option. The revised V2 battery area and CNHL's lightweight high-capacity packs give experienced pilots more room to choose between minimum weight and increased energy capacity.

Using a Single 8S QS8 Battery

This collection also includes single 8S batteries with QS8 connectors. A single-pack system can simplify battery handling because there is only one main pack to charge, install and monitor. However, it is not a direct replacement for the factory dual-4S EC5 arrangement.

The aircraft uses an EC5 power connection, while the CNHL single 8S batteries shown here use QS8. A suitably rated QS8-to-EC5 connection solution is therefore required. Pilots must also confirm the length, width, height, wire exit direction, hatch clearance and achievable CG before selecting a single 8S pack.

The CNHL G+Plus 5000mAh 29.6V 8S 70C battery with QS8 is the most conservative single-pack alternative because it retains the standard 5000mAh capacity and standard 8S LiPo voltage. The larger Lightning 8S LiHV packs provide more capacity, but require closer attention to total weight, connector routing and charging voltage.

Why the V2 Battery Area Matters

The V2 Eurofighter provides more fore-and-aft battery positioning room than the earlier configuration, and the CG reference marks have been moved onto the wings. This makes field setup easier and gives pilots more flexibility when balancing different battery sizes.

That extra adjustment range is useful for the larger CNHL Lightning packs, but it does not make every battery automatically suitable. The final decision should still be based on four points:

  • The battery or battery pair fits without compressing the foam, wiring or hatch.
  • The pack can be secured so it cannot move during high-alpha or negative-G maneuvers.
  • The aircraft can reach the selected CG without placing the pack outside the usable tray area.
  • The completed flying weight remains appropriate for the runway, landing surface and pilot's experience.

The extended aft-CG range is a setup option, not an instruction to place every battery as far rearward as possible. For a first flight, use the manual's recommended starting point and make small changes only after evaluating the aircraft.

LiPo and LiHV Charging Compatibility

Standard LiPo cells are normally charged to 4.20V per cell. LiHV cells can be charged as high as 4.35V per cell when the complete power system is approved for the additional voltage.

Battery System Standard LiPo Full Charge LiHV Full Charge
6S 25.2V 26.1V
8S 33.6V 34.8V

Connector fit alone does not confirm that the stock ESC is approved for a full 4.35V-per-cell LiHV charge. Before selecting LiHV charging mode, verify the maximum input voltage accepted by the installed power system. A LiHV battery may also be charged using the standard 4.20V-per-cell LiPo setting when full LiHV voltage has not been confirmed.

Should You Choose the 6S or 8S Eurofighter?

Choose the 6S Version When Choose the 8S Version When
You prefer a simple single-battery setup You want the High Performance power system
You already own suitable 6S EC5 EDF batteries You are comfortable managing two matched 4S packs
You want strong performance with simpler charging You prioritize stronger acceleration and top-end performance
You want to use the lightweight 7800mAh 6S endurance option You want to build an 8S system around lightweight dual-4S packs

The 6S Eurofighter should not be viewed as an underpowered substitute. It already supports the fast-pass, high-alpha and low-speed character for which this airframe is known. The 8S version is better understood as the maximum-performance option for pilots willing to manage the additional battery and charging requirements.

Before Ordering Your Eurofighter Battery

  1. Confirm the aircraft version. The 6S and 8S Eurofighters use different motors even though the airframes look the same.
  2. Check the connector. The stock aircraft uses EC5. CNHL single 8S packs in this collection use QS8 and require a suitable connection solution.
  3. For an 8S dual-pack setup, buy two matching 4S batteries. Do not combine packs with different capacities, cell condition or charge levels.
  4. Measure the usable battery area. Leave room for the power leads, series adapter and hatch closure.
  5. Verify CG after installation. Battery capacity alone does not determine whether a pack is appropriate for the aircraft.

Freewing Eurofighter Typhoon V2 Battery FAQ

Can I use a 7800mAh 6S battery in the Freewing Eurofighter V2?

The CNHL Lightning LiHV 7800mAh 6S EC5 battery was selected for this collection because its size and weight remain close to the commonly recommended 6000mAh battery class while providing more rated capacity. Always confirm the battery is securely installed and verify the final CG before flying.

Do two 4S 6000mAh batteries become 8S 12000mAh?

No. When two matching 4S 6000mAh batteries are connected in series, the result is an 8S 6000mAh system. Voltage is added in series, but capacity remains 6000mAh.

Can a single 8S QS8 battery plug directly into the Eurofighter?

No. The aircraft uses an EC5 connection, while the single 8S batteries in this collection use QS8. A suitably rated QS8-to-EC5 connection solution is required, and the pack dimensions, wire routing, hatch clearance and CG must also be checked.

Should I fully charge a LiHV battery to 4.35V per cell?

Only use LiHV charging mode when the complete ESC and power system have been confirmed for the higher full-charge voltage. Where that approval is not available, a LiHV battery can be charged using the standard LiPo setting of 4.20V per cell.
