Quick Fit Check

The CNHL Lightning LiHV 7800mAh 22.8V 6S 120C battery with EC5 plug is an unusually lightweight high-capacity pack designed to deliver 7800mAh of rated capacity while remaining close to the size and weight class of many conventional 6000mAh 6S LiPo batteries.

At approximately 875g and 152 × 51 × 59mm, it gives pilots and drivers a way to gain substantially more battery capacity without moving to the much larger and heavier format normally associated with a conventional 7800mAh pack. Compared with a 6000mAh battery, it provides 30% more rated capacity while maintaining a practical installation footprint for compatible large RC models.

This pack has been verified for use in the Freewing Eurofighter Typhoon V2 6S 90mm EDF Jet. It is also suitable for other large EDF jets, RC airplanes, cars, trucks, boats and custom 6S systems when the battery dimensions, installed weight, EC5 connection and power-system requirements match.

7800mAh Capacity in a Conventional 6000mAh-Class Pack

The defining advantage of this CNHL Lightning battery is its capacity-to-weight ratio. A conventional increase from 6000mAh to 7800mAh would normally bring a noticeable increase in both battery dimensions and installed weight. This Lightning LiHV pack is designed to avoid much of that penalty.

Its approximately 875g weight and compact 152 × 51 × 59mm format place it close to the installation range of many ordinary 6000mAh 6S LiPo batteries. This allows compatible models to carry 7800mAh of rated capacity without requiring the battery compartment, center of gravity or overall setup to absorb the weight of a typical conventional 7800mAh pack.

Compared with a 6000mAh battery, the additional 1800mAh represents a 30% increase in rated capacity. Depending on throttle use and model efficiency, that can provide more usable flight or driving time, a larger landing reserve and fewer voltage drops toward the end of a run.

Why Choose This Battery?

More capacity without a conventional 7800mAh weight penalty

This pack is intended for users who want more energy than a typical 5000mAh or 6000mAh battery but do not want to install a large, heavy conventional 7800mAh pack. Its lightweight construction makes the capacity increase practical in models where battery mass and compartment size would otherwise limit the upgrade.

Strong capacity-to-weight performance

For EDF aircraft and other weight-sensitive RC models, the important figure is not capacity alone. The relationship between capacity, dimensions and installed mass determines whether the extra energy can be carried without creating an excessive center-of-gravity or takeoff-weight penalty.

120C output for demanding power systems

The 120C continuous and 240C burst ratings provide current-delivery headroom for powerful EDF units, aircraft motors, large RC vehicles and other high-load systems. Actual current demand is still determined by the motor, ESC, EDF or propeller, gearing and operating conditions.

More useful energy for mixed-throttle operation

The 7800mAh capacity can provide a larger usable reserve during mixed-throttle flying or driving. Actual runtime will vary according to throttle use, wind, vehicle load, gearing, cooling and the reserve maintained at the end of each run.

Verified for the Freewing Eurofighter Typhoon V2 6S 90mm EDF Jet

The CNHL Lightning LiHV 7800mAh 6S 120C battery with EC5 plug has been verified for use in the Freewing Eurofighter Typhoon V2 6S 90mm EDF Jet.

This application is possible because the battery does not have the size and weight normally associated with a conventional 7800mAh 6S pack. At approximately 875g and 152 × 51 × 59mm, it remains close to the physical and weight class of the conventional 6000mAh batteries commonly used in this aircraft.

The result is a practical capacity upgrade from 6000mAh to 7800mAh without introducing the excessive size or weight that would normally make a high-capacity pack unsuitable for a 90mm EDF jet. Pilots gain 30% more rated capacity while retaining a battery format that has been successfully installed and balanced in the Eurofighter Typhoon V2.

The EC5 output plug matches the aircraft's EC5 power connection. No connector adapter is required when the aircraft remains in its standard EC5 configuration.

Even with verified fitment, the battery should be secured firmly and the aircraft's final center of gravity should be checked before every first flight with a new battery position or equipment configuration. Battery position, receiver location, external stores and other installed equipment can still affect the final balance.

Actual flight-time improvement depends on throttle management, wind, high-alpha flying, repeated vertical climbs, external stores and the landing reserve maintained by the pilot. The additional capacity should be treated as more usable energy and reserve, not as a guarantee of a fixed percentage increase in flight time.

Before charging to the full LiHV voltage, confirm the maximum input voltage of the installed ESC. A system being rated for six cells does not automatically prove that it supports the full voltage of a 6S LiHV battery. When full LiHV support has not been confirmed, charge the pack conservatively to standard LiPo voltage.

Compatible RC Models and Applications

Large 6S EDF Jets

The lightweight 7800mAh format makes this battery especially relevant to large EDF jets that normally operate with conventional 5000mAh or 6000mAh 6S packs. Confirm battery-bay dimensions, EC5 connection, final center of gravity, ESC maximum voltage, intake clearance, cooling, wire routing and secure battery retention.

High-Power RC Airplanes

Large propeller aircraft may benefit from the combination of high capacity and strong current capability. Check the recommended battery weight, center of gravity, takeoff weight, propeller current draw, ESC rating and landing behavior before changing from a smaller battery.

6S RC Cars and Trucks

The 7800mAh capacity can provide longer running sessions in large RC cars, trucks and bash platforms. Confirm tray size, battery-door clearance, strap security, chassis balance, EC5 connection, ESC voltage rating and driveline clearance.

High-Power RC Boats

For compatible RC boats, the pack can provide substantial energy without the size and weight of a typical conventional 7800mAh battery. Check battery-tray dimensions, hatch clearance, hull trim, side-to-side balance, self-righting behavior, cooling, waterproofing, wire routing and battery retention.

Custom 6S Electric Builds

This pack may also be used in custom 6S systems that require a compact high-capacity battery and EC5 power connection. Voltage, dimensions, weight, current demand, connector polarity and charger configuration must all be checked as part of the complete installation.

EC5 and IC5 Physical Compatibility

EC5 and IC5 connectors are physically compatible at the main power interface. A standard EC5 battery plug can connect to a corresponding IC5 device connector when the connector orientation and polarity are correct.

The important difference is Smart communication. This CNHL battery uses a conventional EC5 connector and is not a Spektrum Smart battery. It supplies power through the main positive and negative contacts but does not include the Smart data connection or electronics required to transmit battery information.

When connected to an IC5-equipped ESC or model, the battery can provide normal main power, but the system will not receive Smart battery data such as automatic battery identification, capacity information, cycle data or other battery telemetry.

A Smart charger may require the user to select the cell count, battery chemistry, charge current and voltage manually, depending on the charger and adapter arrangement. Always confirm polarity, cable clearance, current rating and charger settings before use.

Yes. This battery has been verified for use in the Freewing Eurofighter Typhoon V2 6S 90mm EDF Jet. Its size and weight are close to the conventional 6000mAh battery class used in the aircraft, while its 7800mAh capacity provides 30% more rated capacity.

Is EC5 physically compatible with IC5?

Yes. EC5 and IC5 are physically compatible at the main power connection. This EC5 battery can provide normal power through a corresponding IC5 connector, but it is not a Smart battery and does not transmit Smart battery data.

Does an IC5 system still work without Smart battery data?

The main power connection can operate normally, provided the connector, polarity and electrical specifications match. However, Smart battery identification and battery-data functions will not be available from this conventional EC5 pack.

How much more capacity does 7800mAh provide than 6000mAh?

The 7800mAh battery provides 1800mAh more rated capacity, which is a 30% increase. Actual flight or driving-time improvement depends on throttle use, operating load, model efficiency and the reserve maintained at the end of use.

Can this LiHV battery be charged as a standard LiPo?

Yes. It may be balance charged within standard LiPo voltage limits. Charging to the higher LiHV voltage requires a charger with a dedicated LiHV mode and confirmation that the model's ESC supports the maximum voltage of a fully charged LiHV pack.

Is the maximum 5C charge rate recommended for every charge?

5C is the specified maximum rather than the required everyday charge rate. A lower balanced charge rate generally produces less heat and places less stress on the battery. The charger, connector, wiring and charging environment must all support the selected current.

Notice

  • This is a LiHV battery. Use LiHV charging mode only with a charger designed to support LiHV batteries.
  • When charging in LiHV mode, stop charging immediately if any cell exceeds 4.35V.
  • If charging as a standard LiPo battery, do not exceed standard LiPo voltage limits.
  • Before using a fully charged LiHV pack, confirm the ESC's maximum input voltage. A “6S” rating alone does not confirm support for the full voltage of a 6S LiHV battery.
  • Always use balance charging and select the correct six-cell battery mode before starting.
  • EC5 and IC5 are physically compatible at the main power connection, but this battery does not provide Spektrum Smart battery data.
  • Confirm connector polarity, current rating, wire clearance and charger settings before connecting or charging the battery.
  • Confirm battery dimensions, installed weight, center of gravity, tray security or hull trim before operating the model.
  • Inspect the battery, wires, EC5 connector and balance lead before and after use.
  • Do not use a swollen, punctured, overheated or otherwise damaged battery.
  • Never charge the battery unattended or near flammable materials.
  • Charge and store the battery in an appropriate fire-resistant area and follow the charger manufacturer's instructions.
  • Allow the battery to cool before recharging. Do not charge a battery that is still hot from use.
  • Do not over-discharge the battery. Stop operation when low-voltage protection activates or performance drops noticeably.
  • Use the charger's storage function when the battery will not be used for an extended period.
  • Protect the battery terminals during storage and transport to prevent short circuits.
  • If a new battery does not initially deliver full performance, several normal balanced charge and discharge cycles may help stabilize the cells.
