About the Losi Promoto Platform

The Losi Promoto series is one of the most realistic RC motorcycle platforms available today, combining Spektrum MS6X control, a flywheel-stabilized chassis, chain drive, front disc braking, and motorcycle-style suspension geometry. Both the Promoto MX and Promoto SM share the same core electronics and battery compartment design, which means battery fitment rules are the same for both versions.

Unlike many 1/10 RC cars, the Promoto battery area is narrow and highly sensitive to battery shape, wire direction, and connector clearance. A battery may have the correct voltage but still fail to fit properly if the wires exit in the wrong direction or if the connector prevents the battery cover from closing. That is why this collection focuses only on selected CNHL Racing Series 2S hard case LiPo batteries that can physically sit in the Promoto battery compartment and allow the wires to route out correctly.

Why Fitment Matters for Losi Promoto Batteries

The Losi Promoto platform runs on a 2S LiPo battery, but not every 2S hard case pack is suitable. Battery dimensions, case shape, wire exit position, and connector layout all affect whether the pack can be installed cleanly. For the Promoto MX and Promoto SM, the goal is not only to find a powerful RC battery, but also to choose a pack that allows the battery tray cover to close without crushing the wires.

The four CNHL Racing Series options listed on this page are selected because their hard-case layout and wire routing make them usable in the Promoto’s tight battery compartment. They offer strong 2S performance for riders who want longer runtime, stable voltage, and reliable power delivery while keeping installation practical.

Important Connector Notice: T Plug to EC5 / IC5 Required

Please note that the current recommended CNHL batteries for this page come with a T Plug / Deans-style connector. The Losi Promoto MX and Promoto SM are typically designed around an EC5 / IC5 battery connection. This means these packs are not direct plug-and-play batteries out of the box.

Before using these batteries, riders will need to prepare a suitable T Plug to EC5 / IC5 adapter or perform a proper connector conversion. The adapter or connector change is not included with these batteries. Always check connector polarity, wire clearance, and current handling before running the bike. Do not force the battery cover closed if the wires or adapter are being pinched.

Choosing Between 5200mAh, 6200mAh, 6600mAh, and 8000mAh 2S Packs

The 5200mAh 2S hard case LiPo battery is the lighter option for riders who want a more responsive feel and easier weight control. It is a good starting point if you care about handling balance and quick battery swaps.

The 6200mAh 2S hard case LiPo battery provides a strong middle ground between runtime and weight. For many Promoto riders, this type of capacity makes sense as an everyday upgrade from the stock battery setup.

The 6600mAh 2S hard case LiPo battery gives more runtime while still staying within the selected fitment range for the Promoto platform. It is a good choice for longer dirt sessions, parking-lot runs, and general bashing.

The 8000mAh 2S hard case LiPo battery is the highest-capacity option in this collection, aimed at riders who prioritize maximum runtime. Because higher-capacity packs can be heavier, riders should always check bike balance, wire routing, and battery cover clearance after installation.

FAQ

  • Are these batteries compatible with both Promoto MX and Promoto SM?
Yes. The Promoto MX and Promoto SM share the same battery compartment layout. The four CNHL Racing Series 2S packs listed here are selected because they can fit the Promoto platform and allow the wires to route out properly.
  • Are these batteries plug-and-play for the Losi Promoto?
No. These batteries use a T Plug / Deans-style connector, while the Losi Promoto platform typically uses EC5 / IC5. You will need a suitable T Plug to EC5 / IC5 adapter or a proper connector conversion before use.
  • Can I use any CNHL 2S LiPo battery in the Promoto?
No. The Promoto battery bay is tight, so not every 2S LiPo battery will fit. The batteries on this page are selected based on physical fitment, wire routing, and usable installation clearance.
  • Can I use a 3S battery in the Losi Promoto?
No. The Losi Promoto power system is designed for 2S operation. Using a 3S LiPo battery may damage the ESC, motor, or control system.
  • Which battery gives the longest runtime?
Among the current recommended options, the 8000mAh 2S LiPo battery offers the highest capacity and longest potential runtime. However, riders should also consider added weight and bike balance.
  • Will the battery cover close normally?
The listed packs were selected because their size and wire layout can work with the Promoto battery compartment. However, final fitment may depend on your adapter, wire position, and installation method. Avoid pinching wires when closing the battery cover.
