CNHL PNF Super Tucano 1600mm RC Warbird Plane delivers scale looks, reliable performance, and robust design – making it one of, if not THE best modern turboprop style EPO models on the market today. Inspired by modern turboprop light attack and counter-insurgency aircraft in operation around the world today, the CNHL Super Tucano combines scale outline with practical RC features making it ideal for intermediate to advanced pilots. The flight performance is where the CNHL Super Tucano really shines. The perfect mix of balanced and responsive, it handles traditional warbird style flying, super slow flight and aerobatics with ease—but it doesn’t stop there, in a skilled pair of hands it steps into 3D territory, pulling off hovers, rolling circles, knife-edge passes, harriers, and even crankshafts, giving pilots the kind of thrill you wouldn’t expect from a warbird.

Flight Performance

CNHL Super Tucano 1600mm RC Warbird Plane front view with 5-blade prop and scale decals

The Super Tucano RC plane is built for pilots who want more than just another warbird. Its powerful five-blade prop delivers punchy takeoffs, rock-solid tracking, and the confidence to push into aerobatics. From scale cruising to loops, rolls, and knife-edge passes, it handles each manoeuvre with ease.

Flaps bring the bird down smoothly, making slow, controlled landings feel effortless, while bright LED nav lights add a touch of realism for dusk flying sessions and also make ultra steady and slow low passes a breeze. Every feature of this Plug-N-Fly machine is designed to impress: high power to weight ratio, ultra effect flaps for the ultimate in slow approaches and low passes, daylight-visible LED navigation, formation, and landing lights, plus a set of rugged, all-metal retracts with sprung oleo struts and scale covers. This setup not only looks the part but also tames the bumps of grass strips for smooth ground handling.

Power comes from a large 5052-525KV brushless motor paired with a 100A ZTW RVS G2 ESC. The optional reverse thrust function on the ESC gives you unbelievably short landing runs. Control is precise and dependable, thanks to seven 13g servos driving the flaps, ailerons, elevators, and rudder, with a stronger 25g servo handling the steerable nose gear.

What You’ll Need

Setup tip: For the best landing manners and CG without added ballast, a lighter 6S 4000–6700mAh pack is ideal.

Super Tucano 1600mm RC Plane Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Many users report the nose gear is prone to damage—how is this addressed?

Based on feedback such as “nose gear collapse / nose gear weak,” we strengthened the retract housing and added additional support in the form of the now infamous ‘wedge’which is now pre-installed. In addition to this we provide practical guidance in the manual and on this page: run lighter 6S packs (e.g., CNHL 6S 5000mAh) to reduce front-gear impact; avoid heavy 8000mAh+ setups that push the nose down and amplify landing shocks. If desired, you can add a support wedge or upgrade to metal retract components.

What 6S battery capacity/weight range is recommended to balance CG and flight time?

We recommend 6S 4000–6700mAh (70–120C) as the primary range. It’s easier to achieve proper CG and smoother takeoffs/landings. If you prefer longer duration, 5500–6700mAh can work, but place the pack as far back as practical and re-check CG (balance inverted with gear retracted). If the nose is still heavy, you can carefully remove foam at the rear of the battery bay or add minimal tail ballast. In our tests, CNHL 5000mAh 6S Lipo Battery offers the best balance of handling and endurance.

Are spare parts consistently available? (propellers, retracts, fuselage, canopy, decals, etc.)

Yes. We maintain ongoing stock for key spares: 5-blade props/individual blades, nose/main retract assemblies, fuselage/tail/control surfaces, lighting, decals, and hardware. If something runs low, use the “Back in Stock” alert on this page or visit the Super Tucano Spare Parts collection for live inventory.Importantly, these spare parts are fully compatible with the Avios Super Tucano, ensuring you can upgrade, repair, or replace without worrying about fitment issues.

How is quality control (QC) ensured? We’ve seen reports of loose ESCs, decal damage, or insufficient glue.

We tightened QC based on pilot feedback: upgraded ESC fastening, more adhesive on high-stress components, and higher sampling rates for decals/exterior parts. Upon receipt, please perform a quick pull/visual check (ESC mount, retract beds, pushrods/links, clevis retainers). If anything is off, contact Support—we provide fast replacements for affected parts.

When will EU/US warehouses have stock? How do I buy as soon as it’s available?

Warehouse ETAs are shown in the on-page stock status. We recommend:

  • Click “Back in Stock” alerts (email)
  • Subscribe to our Newsletter for restock and spare-part updates
  • Join the CNHL FB Community Channel for real-time pilot feedback and wave restock notices

Does the 5-blade prop sound close to the real turboprop?

The scale 5-blade prop produces a distinctive turboprop-like sound at mid/high throttle—one of the most praised features. Always re-check static current and motor/ESC temps after changes, and keep the prop dynamically balanced.

How should I handle initial setup and checks? Any recommended throws and expo?

After assembly per the manual, start with moderate throws + 30–40% expo for the maiden. Verify gear cycling, neutral control surfaces, thrustline, and CG thoroughly on the bench. See our Super Tucano Setup Guide Manual for suggested throws and ballast examples. For maximum precision, balance inverted using a CG tool.

Does this RC plane support ESC thrust reverse?

Yes. If you use a compatible ZTW ESC with a reverse function, the RC plane can enable both propeller brake and thrust reverse during landing. The ESC includes a single yellow signal wire that must be connected to an open receiver channel. Assign a switch on your transmitter to this channel. A short press activates prop brake, and holding the switch while advancing throttle from idle will engage reverse thrust. For full details, refer to the ZTW ESC User Manual .

What aerobatics can it perform? Is it more “trainer-like” or “warbird-like” in feel?

This Super Tucano RC warbird tracks like it’s on rails in steady flight (trainer-like confidence) yet retains solid aerobatic capability: big loops, rolls, knife-edge, slow flap passes, etc. A well-set CG and a lighter 6S pack substantially improve low-speed landing feel.

Which battery should I buy? Do you offer a “with battery” bundle?

We recommend CNHL 6S 4000–6700mAh (e.g., CNHL 6S 5000mAh) for better CG and landing manners; for extended time, consider 4000–6700mAh with proper CG checks. Some production batches may include a launch promotion with 1× CNHL 6S 4000mAh or 1× CNHL 6S 5000mAh—please refer to the promotion note on this page (offers may end at any time).
