What Battery Does the HoBao Hyper 10SC 2.0 Use?

The HoBao Hyper 10SC 2.0 is a 1/10 4WD electric short course truck designed around a 2S power system. For the stock RTR version, the simplest battery choice is a 7.4V 2S hard-case LiPo with a T/Dean connector, matching the basic voltage and connector arrangement of the factory electronics.

Battery size is equally important. The Hyper SC 2.0 provides approximately 143 × 50mm of battery space in length and width, which suits the conventional full-size 1/10 hard-case format well. Most CNHL batteries selected for this collection are around 138–139mm long and 47–48mm wide, leaving them within that general footprint while offering several different capacity choices.

Choosing the Right Capacity for the Hyper SC 2.0

The useful capacity range for this truck is broad. A smaller pack can help keep installed weight down, while a larger pack favors longer track sessions and fewer battery changes. That makes capacity less about finding one universally “best” battery and more about matching the pack to how the truck is being used.

Capacity Battery Type Connector Best Use Setup
5200–5600mAh 7.4V 2S LiPo Hard Case T/Dean Lighter track setup and general driving Stock RTR-oriented
6200–6600mAh 7.4V 2S LiPo Hard Case T/Dean Balanced runtime for practice and regular use Stock RTR-oriented
8000mAh 7.4V 2S LiPo Hard Case T/Dean Longer track sessions Stock RTR-oriented
6000–8200mAh 7.6V 2S LiHV Hard Case EC5 Custom ESC and modified connector setups Check ESC voltage support
9000mAh 7.6V 2S LiHV Hard Case EC5 High-capacity custom track setup Established Hyper SC 2.0 use

5200mAh and 5600mAh: A Lighter Starting Point

For drivers who do not need maximum runtime from every battery, the 5200mAh and 5600mAh options are a sensible starting point. They keep capacity in a conventional 1/10 racing range while avoiding the extra weight that comes with the largest hard-case packs.

This can be useful when steering response, chassis balance and shorter driving sessions matter more than extending every run as long as possible.

6200mAh and 6600mAh: A Strong All-Round Range

The 6200mAh and 6600mAh packs move the balance toward longer runtime without making capacity the only priority. For many Hyper SC 2.0 owners, this middle range makes sense for regular track practice, general short-course driving and longer sessions between battery changes.

Several discharge-rate options are also available within this part of the CNHL Racing Series range, giving drivers more flexibility when matching a battery to their preferred electronics and driving style.

8000mAh and 9000mAh: When Runtime Matters More

Higher-capacity batteries become more attractive when the goal is to maximize driving time rather than minimize battery weight. An 8000mAh 2S LiPo keeps the stock T/Dean connector direction while substantially increasing available capacity for longer practice sessions.

For custom builds, the 9000mAh 2S LiHV EC5 provides an even higher-capacity option. Its approximately 139 × 48mm footprint remains within the Hyper SC 2.0's published battery area in length and width, and this configuration has already seen real use in the platform. That makes it a particularly relevant option for owners running an EC5-equipped or otherwise modified power system.

The trade-off is additional battery weight. A larger pack can be excellent for open practice and long running sessions, but it is not automatically the ideal choice for every race setup. Vehicle balance, handling preference and local competition rules should still guide the final capacity choice.

Best Battery Direction for the Stock Hyper 10SC 2.0 RTR

For a stock RTR truck, staying with 2S LiPo and T/Dean keeps battery selection simple. There is no need to introduce a connector adapter when suitable batteries are already available with the same connector style used by the factory ESC.

CNHL Racing Series 5200mAh, 5600mAh, 6200mAh, 6600mAh and 8000mAh hard-case packs cover a useful progression from lighter setups through to long-runtime options while remaining within the same general full-size hard-case format.

That also makes it easier to tune the truck around capacity rather than changing several parts of the electrical system at once. Drivers can choose a smaller pack for reduced weight or step upward in capacity when more track time is the priority.

LiHV Options for Custom and Modified Hyper SC 2.0 Builds

The battery requirements change once the original electronics are replaced or the truck is built from an ARR configuration. With a custom ESC and connector setup, there is no reason to limit battery selection to the stock T/Dean arrangement.

The CNHL 6000mAh, 8200mAh and 9000mAh 2S LiHV hard-case packs use EC5 connectors and fit within the same general 1/10 hard-case size range. They are therefore more relevant to Hyper SC 2.0 builds that have already been configured around EC5 or another suitable high-current wiring arrangement.

Connector compatibility and voltage compatibility should be treated separately. Changing the ESC connector to EC5 does not automatically confirm that the electronics support a fully charged LiHV battery.

Can You Run a 2S LiHV Battery in the Hyper SC 2.0?

A standard 2S LiPo is nominally 7.4V and reaches 8.4V when fully charged to 4.20V per cell. A 2S LiHV battery is nominally 7.6V and can reach 8.7V when charged to its full 4.35V-per-cell LiHV voltage.

The stock Hyper SC 2.0 RTR is specified around 2S LiPo operation, so full-charge LiHV use should not be assumed solely because both batteries are described as 2S.

Before charging a LiHV battery to 4.35V per cell, verify the maximum input voltage of the ESC actually installed in the truck. This is especially important with ARR vehicles and modified trucks because the electronics can vary considerably from one build to another.

If full LiHV voltage support cannot be confirmed, do not operate the electronics beyond their specified maximum voltage. A LiHV battery can be charged only to standard LiPo voltage when an appropriate charger and charging setup are used.

T/Dean or EC5: Which Connector Should You Choose?

The stock Hyper 10SC 2.0 RTR uses a T/Dean battery connector, so a T/Dean-equipped battery is the cleanest choice when the original ESC and wiring remain in place.

EC5 becomes more relevant when the truck has been fitted with aftermarket electronics or the connector has already been converted. T/Dean and EC5 are different connector systems and should not be treated as direct plug-in equivalents.

If an adapter or connector conversion is used, check:

  • Correct polarity
  • Connector current capability
  • Wire gauge
  • Solder quality
  • Available space around the battery tray
  • Safe routing away from the drivetrain

For ARR builds, the best approach is to select the connector around the ESC being installed rather than trying to reproduce the RTR connector configuration unnecessarily.

HoBao Hyper 10SC 2.0 Battery Size and Fitment

The Hyper SC 2.0's approximately 143 × 50mm battery area gives owners a useful amount of choice within the standard 1/10 hard-case format. The CNHL packs selected here generally stay around 138–139mm in length and 47–48mm in width, which keeps their footprint within that published space.

Length and width are still only part of the fitment check. Before choosing a battery, also confirm:

  • Battery height: make sure the restraint can secure the pack correctly.
  • Wire exit: allow enough room for the main leads without forcing them against the case or chassis.
  • Connector clearance: larger plugs and adapters need additional room.
  • Battery retention: the pack should remain secure under braking, acceleration, jumps and impacts.
  • Installed electronics: aftermarket ESC placement can reduce practical battery clearance.

Nominal dimensions should always be treated with a small tolerance rather than as an absolute guarantee, particularly where only a few millimeters of clearance remain.

Track Practice vs Race-Day Battery Choice

A battery that works well for an afternoon of practice is not necessarily the battery a driver will choose for a formal race heat.

Large-capacity packs such as 8000mAh and 9000mAh are attractive when the goal is longer uninterrupted running, repeated setup testing or simply fewer battery changes. Smaller 5200mAh and 5600mAh packs can make more sense where overall weight and chassis response are higher priorities.

Race organizations and individual tracks may also apply their own battery rules. Always check local requirements covering battery dimensions, construction, weight or approved battery lists before entering an organized event.

HoBao Hyper 10SC 2.0 Battery FAQ

What battery does the HoBao Hyper 10SC 2.0 RTR use?

A 7.4V 2S hard-case LiPo with a T/Dean connector is the most straightforward choice for the stock RTR configuration.

What is the Hyper SC 2.0 battery size?

The published battery area is approximately 143 × 50mm in length and width. Many of the CNHL hard-case batteries selected for this collection are approximately 138–139mm long and 47–48mm wide.

Is a 5200mAh or 8000mAh battery better?

It depends on the goal. A 5200mAh pack can help reduce installed battery weight, while an 8000mAh pack provides substantially more capacity for longer practice sessions. Neither capacity is automatically better for every driver.

Can the Hyper 10SC 2.0 use a 9000mAh battery?

A CNHL 9000mAh 2S LiHV hard-case pack has a footprint of approximately 139 × 48mm and has already been used in a Hyper SC 2.0 setup. Because this version uses an EC5 connector and LiHV chemistry, the installed ESC, connector configuration and supported maximum voltage still need to be checked before use.

Can I use an EC5 battery with the stock RTR ESC?

The factory RTR connector is T/Dean, so EC5 is not a direct plug-in match. An EC5 battery requires a properly rated adapter, a suitable connector conversion or an ESC already configured with EC5.

Can I use LiHV instead of a standard 2S LiPo?

LiHV can be considered when the installed electronics and charging setup support it. Do not assume that 2S LiPo compatibility automatically confirms operation at the full 8.7V charge voltage of a 2S LiHV pack.

Which battery is better for long practice sessions?

Higher-capacity options such as 6600mAh, 8000mAh and, on suitable custom setups, 9000mAh can reduce the frequency of battery changes. The added battery weight should still be considered when tuning the truck.
