Quick Fit Check

The CNHL Racing Series LiHV 9000mAh 7.6V 2S 120C Hardcase Battery is a high-capacity 2S racing pack for RC cars, short-course trucks, GT platforms and other performance builds that can accommodate a full-length hardcase battery.

With 9000mAh capacity, a 120C continuous discharge rating and approximately 352g weight, this pack is aimed at drivers who prioritize long track sessions and substantial current capability rather than minimum battery mass.

The battery uses a 5mm bullet hardcase interface with an EC5 output lead, so fitment depends on both the physical battery dimensions and the way the power lead is routed in the chassis.

CNHL Racing Series 9000mAh 7.6V 2S 120C LiHV hardcase RC racing battery with 5mm bullet to EC5 lead

9000mAh 2S LiHV for Long RC Racing Sessions

The defining feature of this battery is its combination of 9000mAh capacity and a full-size 139mm hardcase format. It is aimed at RC drivers who want substantially more energy than a conventional 5000–6500mAh racing pack while staying within the familiar footprint used by many full-length hardcase battery trays.

The 9000mAh capacity is particularly useful for practice sessions, long mains, testing and recreational running where reducing the frequency of battery changes can be more valuable than minimizing vehicle weight.

The tradeoff is the approximately 352g battery mass. In competition vehicles where weight distribution and minimum running weight are tightly controlled, a smaller and lighter pack may still be preferable.

Why Choose This Battery?

  • 9000mAh capacity: High energy reserve for long track, practice and recreational sessions.
  • 120C continuous rating: Designed for demanding brushless RC power systems.
  • Full-length hardcase: 139 × 48mm footprint suits many conventional racing battery trays.
  • 5mm bullet interface: Common hardcase-style connection for performance RC vehicles.
  • EC5 output lead: Convenient for vehicles already configured with an EC5 power system.
  • 2S LiHV chemistry: Supports up to 8.70V full charge when the complete electronics support the higher voltage.

High-Capacity Battery for the HoBao Hyper 10SC 2.0

The CNHL Racing Series LiHV 9000mAh 2S 120C hardcase battery is a particularly relevant high-capacity option for the HoBao Hyper 10SC 2.0.

This 9000mAh pack has already seen real-world use in the Hyper 10SC platform, making it a stronger application than a compatibility claim based only on nominal dimensions.

The battery's 139 × 48 × 26mm dimensions follow a conventional full-length hardcase footprint, while the high capacity favors extended practice sessions and longer recreational runs.

The important connector point is that the battery uses a 5mm hardcase bullet interface with an EC5 output lead. Hyper 10SC configurations using a different ESC-side connector require the appropriate connector arrangement rather than assuming direct plug-in compatibility.

Explore more model-specific options in the HoBao Hyper 10SC 2.0 Battery Collection.

Twin 2S Battery Option for the MCD OCTOX GT-E

The MCD OCTOX GT-E is another interesting application for this battery because the chassis can be configured around a twin-2S battery layout.

Two matching 2S packs connected in series create a 4S system. With two CNHL 9000mAh 2S LiHV batteries, the resulting configuration remains 9000mAh while nominal voltage increases to 15.2V.

Configuration Nominal Voltage Full LiHV Voltage Capacity
1 × 2S LiHV 7.6V 8.70V 9000mAh
2 × 2S LiHV in Series 15.2V / 4S LiHV 17.40V 9000mAh

The voltage difference is important. A conventional fully charged 4S LiPo reaches 16.8V, while two fully charged 2S LiHV packs in series can reach 17.4V.

Full LiHV charging should therefore only be used when the ESC and complete power system support this higher maximum voltage. If they do not, the batteries can be charged to the standard LiPo limit of 4.20V per cell.

Two 9000mAh packs also create substantial combined battery mass, so battery position and chassis balance should be considered as part of the setup.

A High-Capacity 2S Battery for Hobbywing MAX10 G2 140A Builds

This battery is also relevant to high-performance 2S brushless builds using electronics such as the Hobbywing EZRUN MAX10 G2 140A Sensored Brushless ESC.

A 120C battery rating should not be confused with actual vehicle current draw. The ESC does not continuously pull 140A simply because it is rated at 140A, and the battery does not continuously deliver its theoretical C-rating current.

Actual current depends on the motor, gearing, tire diameter, vehicle weight, surface grip, driving style, temperature and other setup variables.

For this reason, battery, ESC and motor selection should be treated as one complete power system rather than matching specifications by one number alone.

2S LiHV Battery for Team Associated RC10T Builds

The full-length 2S hardcase format also makes this battery relevant to compatible vintage and modern stadium-truck builds where a high-capacity 2S pack can be accommodated.

For the Team Associated RC10T Cliff Lett “Team Moo” Edition and similar builds, always compare the battery tray, retention system, connector arrangement and acceptable battery weight before installation.

A 9000mAh pack prioritizes runtime rather than period-correct weight or minimum racing mass, so it is best suited to users who value extended running over recreating the exact battery characteristics of a vintage setup.

9000mAh vs. Lower-Capacity 2S Racing Batteries

Priority 9000mAh 2S LiHV 5000–6500mAh Class
Energy Reserve Very high Lower
Runtime Priority Long practice and recreational sessions Balanced track use
Battery Mass Higher Typically lower
Chassis Response More battery mass and inertia Potentially lighter and more responsive
Best Direction Runtime-focused setups Weight-sensitive racing setups

The largest-capacity battery is not automatically the fastest racing choice. Vehicle balance, minimum weight rules, handling and run duration should all be considered when selecting capacity.

5mm Bullet Interface and EC5 Output Lead

This hardcase battery uses a 5mm bullet battery interface rather than a permanently attached EC5 cable exiting directly from the case.

The supplied output arrangement converts the 5mm battery connection to an EC5 vehicle-side connection. This style is useful in racing applications because the hardcase pack remains modular and the external lead can be arranged according to chassis layout.

If the vehicle uses another connector such as T/Dean, XT60, XT90 or a different bullet configuration, use an appropriately rated lead or connector solution rather than forcing incompatible connectors together.

EC5 and IC5 are physically compatible at the main positive and negative power interface, but a conventional EC5 lead does not provide Spektrum Smart battery data.

LiHV Charging and Voltage

This is a 2S LiHV battery. A full LiHV charge reaches 4.35V per cell, or 8.70V total.

Do not assume that every 2S ESC supports the full 8.70V LiHV voltage. Some systems described simply as “2S compatible” are designed around the 8.40V maximum of a conventional 2S LiPo.

If full LiHV compatibility has not been confirmed, the battery can be balance charged to the standard LiPo limit of 4.20V per cell, or 8.40V total.

The stated 5C value is the maximum charge rate. For routine charging, a balanced 1C charge rate is a practical choice when charging speed is not the priority.

FAQ

Is this a standard LiPo or LiHV battery?

This is a 2S LiHV battery with 7.6V nominal voltage and a maximum full-charge voltage of 8.70V when charged in LiHV mode.

Does this battery have a fixed EC5 cable?

The specification describes a 5mm bullet battery interface with a 5mm-to-EC5 output arrangement. This is different from a softcase battery with a permanently attached EC5 lead.

Can this battery be used in the HoBao Hyper 10SC 2.0?

Yes, it is a relevant high-capacity option and this 9000mAh pack has already seen use in the Hyper 10SC platform. Confirm the actual connector arrangement and battery retention on your truck before installation.

Can two of these batteries be used in the MCD OCTOX GT-E?

They can be considered for a twin-2S setup when the chassis, wiring and ESC support the combined dimensions, weight and voltage. Two fully charged LiHV packs in series can reach 17.4V.

Does two 9000mAh batteries in series become 18000mAh?

No. Series connection doubles voltage while capacity remains 9000mAh.

Is 9000mAh better for racing than a 6000mAh battery?

Not automatically. The 9000mAh pack carries more energy and favors longer sessions, while a lighter lower-capacity battery may give more responsive handling or suit racing weight targets better.

Can I charge this battery only to 8.40V?

Yes. A LiHV battery can be balance charged to the standard 2S LiPo limit of 8.40V when full LiHV voltage is not required or is not supported by the vehicle electronics.

Should this battery always be charged at 5C?

No. 5C is the maximum specified charge rate. A balanced 1C charge rate is a practical everyday choice when charging time is not the priority.

Should be 5mm bullets

I’m sure they will be good on power but it is forcing me to switch to 4mm bullets where the 8200 LiHV 2s packs were 5mm bullets. Would’ve been 5 stars otherwise.
