The Hobbywing QUICRUN WP 8BL150 G2 is a 150A waterproof brushless ESC designed for suitable 1/8 scale RC trucks and monster trucks. It supports 3S to 6S LiPo power systems and is intended for high-load sensorless brushless setups using correctly matched motor KV, gearing and tire size.
The G2 platform combines intelligent freewheeling technology, a selectable 6V/7.4V switch-mode BEC, active fan cooling, capacitor overheat protection and an upgraded electronic power switch. These features improve thermal management, receiver-power capability and reliability in demanding 1/8 truck installations.
This is a sensorless brushless ESC. A sensored brushless motor may be connected, but it will operate in sensorless mode because the ESC does not use the motor sensor cable. Battery wires are supplied without a pre-installed battery connector, while three 6.5mm female motor connectors are fitted to the ESC.
Quick Fit Check
Vehicle: Designed for suitable 1/8 scale RC trucks and monster trucks. Vehicle scale alone does not guarantee compatibility; weight, tire diameter, gearing and drivetrain load must also be considered.
Battery: Supports 3-6S LiPo. The red and black 10AWG input wires are supplied without a battery connector, so a correctly rated connector must be soldered before use.
Motor on 4S: Use a suitable brushless motor with KV no higher than 3000.
Motor on 6S: Use a suitable 4274-size brushless motor with KV no higher than 2400.
Motor Connection: Three 6.5mm female gold connectors are installed. Sensored brushless motors operate in sensorless mode only.
BEC: Selectable 6V or 7.4V switch-mode BEC rated at 6A continuous output. The supplied product material also identifies up to 12A maximum output.
Programming Connection: The compatible program box connects through the fan port. Disconnect the cooling fan before programming and reconnect it afterward.

Why Choose the QUICRUN WP 8BL150 G2?
Provides 150A continuous and 950A peak current for suitable high-load 1/8 truck power systems.
Supports a broad voltage range for correctly matched 1/8 truck and monster-truck setups.
Selectable 6V/7.4V output supports compatible standard-voltage and high-voltage steering electronics.
Improves partial-throttle efficiency and helps reduce ESC operating temperature.
An internal copper thermal path and powered cooling fan improve heat transfer under load.
Capacitor overheat protection adds another safeguard against excessive thermal stress.
Designed for normal RC exposure involving rain, splashes, dust, sand and mud.
The upgraded switch is designed to resist common moisture, dust and impact-related problems.
Intelligent Freewheeling for Lower Operating Temperature
Intelligent freewheeling technology improves electrical efficiency during partial-throttle operation. Reducing unnecessary power loss helps the ESC operate at a lower temperature and maintain more consistent output during longer driving sessions.
This feature cannot compensate for an overloaded power system. Motor KV, gearing, tire diameter, vehicle weight, drivetrain resistance, battery voltage and driving style must still be matched correctly.
Choosing a 3S, 4S, 5S or 6S Setup
| Battery | Official Motor Guidance | Typical Direction | Important Check |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3S LiPo | Supported, but no separate 3S motor-KV limit is published | Lower-voltage 1/8 setup | Select the motor using its voltage rating, gearing, vehicle load and temperature. |
| 4S LiPo | KV ≤ 3000 | Responsive general-purpose 1/8 truck system | Monitor motor temperature, gearing and tire diameter. |
| 5S LiPo | Supported, but no separate 5S motor-KV limit is published | Intermediate-voltage truck setup | Use a motor explicitly rated for 5S and verify the complete drivetrain load. |
| 6S LiPo | 4274-size motor, KV ≤ 2400 | High-output 1/8 truck or monster-truck system | Do not move a high-KV 4S motor directly into a 6S setup. |
Upgraded 6V/7.4V Switch-Mode BEC
The built-in switch-mode BEC provides 6A continuous output and can be switched between 6V and 7.4V. The supplied G2 product material also identifies up to 12A maximum output for short-duration steering demands.
Use for receivers, steering servos and accessories designed for standard receiver voltage.
Use only when every receiver-powered component is rated for high-voltage operation.
Do not set the BEC voltage above the maximum supported voltage of the receiver, steering servo, fan or connected accessories.
Efficient Cooling System
The internal power board uses a copper heat-conduction structure to transfer heat toward the external radiator. A 30 × 30 × 10mm fan then provides active airflow over the ESC housing.
The cooling fan is powered by the built-in BEC and supports a 5-7.4V operating range. Keep the fan clear of receiver wires, body panels, stones, sand and other debris.
Active cooling improves temperature control but does not make an overloaded setup safe. Repeated thermal protection indicates that gearing, tire size, vehicle load, drivetrain resistance or motor selection should be reviewed.
Capacitor Overheat Protection
The QUICRUN WP 8BL150 G2 monitors capacitor temperature as part of its protection system. If excessive capacitor temperature is detected, the ESC enters protection to reduce the risk of irreversible electrical damage.
A repeating five-flash green LED sequence indicates capacitor overheat protection. Stop the vehicle, disconnect the battery and allow the system to cool before checking motor load, gearing, battery condition, solder joints and fan operation.
This is an emergency safeguard rather than a substitute for correct setup. Repeated activation means that the electrical or thermal load should be reduced.
Built-In 2040µF Capacitor Bank
The supplied product material identifies a total built-in capacitor capacity of up to 2040µF. Integrating the capacitor bank into the ESC housing simplifies chassis layout and removes the need to position a separate external capacitor module in a typical supported installation.
The three capacitors are positioned beside the cooling fan and power-input wiring, as shown in the product images. They are part of the ESC assembly and should not be relocated or modified.
Keep the battery wires close to their original length. An integrated capacitor bank should not be interpreted as permission to use unnecessarily long input wires or an unsupported electrical layout.
IP67-Rated Protection for Harsh RC Conditions
The sealed ESC design carries an IP67 protection rating under normal operating conditions. It is intended to resist common RC exposure involving rain, splashes, mud, dust and sand.
IP67 does not mean the ESC should remain submerged. Do not intentionally soak it or leave it underwater for extended periods. After wet or muddy driving, disconnect the battery, remove debris and allow the electronics to dry completely before storage.
Water and dust resistance are not permanent. Impact damage, damaged wires, worn seals and normal aging may reduce the level of protection over time. The exposed cooling fan also requires cleaning and inspection after dirty use.
Durable Electronic Power Switch
The upgraded electronic switch is designed to reduce the corrosion, contact wear and accidental shutdown risks associated with traditional mechanical switches in dusty or humid RC environments.
The supplied product material describes the electronic switch as waterproof, dustproof and impact-resistant, with a stated service life of up to 50,000 operating cycles.
The switch is used for powering the ESC on and off, throttle calibration and factory-reset procedures. It is not the connection point for full parameter programming.
Multiple ESC Protection Functions
Reduces and then cuts power when the selected battery-voltage threshold is reached.
Protects the power system when ESC temperature exceeds its operating limit.
Responds to excessive electrical load or abnormal current conditions.
Stops normal throttle output when a valid throttle signal is no longer detected.
Monitors capacitor temperature and enters protection under excessive thermal load.
Programming the WP 8BL150 G2
Full parameter programming requires a compatible LED Program Box, LCD G2 Program Box or LCD Program Box Pro. The program box must be connected to the fan port, not to the receiver throttle lead.
Programming-port reminder: switch off the ESC, disconnect the cooling fan, connect the compatible program box to the fan port with the correct polarity, and then power on the ESC. Reconnect the fan after programming is complete.
The onboard SET button supports throttle-range calibration and factory reset. It is not used for browsing and changing the complete programmable-parameter list.
OTA programming, WiFi Express programming and online firmware updating are not supported.
