Quick Fit Check

The CNHL Lightning LiHV 3200mAh 15.2V 4S 120C HV LiPo Battery with XT60 Plug is a compact high-performance 4S battery for RC airplanes, EDF jets, FPV aircraft and other models where additional capacity is useful but battery size and installed weight still matter.

At approximately 105 × 32 × 35mm (L × W × H) and 265g, this pack combines 3200mAh capacity with a relatively compact footprint. Its 120C continuous discharge rating, 12AWG output wire and XT60 connector make it particularly relevant to demanding 4S power systems.

Because this is a LiHV battery, a full charge reaches 17.4V, which is higher than the 16.8V maximum of a standard 4S LiPo. Do not assume that every model described as “4S compatible” supports the full LiHV voltage.

3200mAh Capacity in a Compact 265g 4S LiHV Pack

The main strength of the CNHL Lightning 3200mAh 4S LiHV is the balance between capacity, physical size and installed weight.

At approximately 265g, the battery provides 3200mAh of rated capacity without moving into the heavier weight class associated with many larger 4000mAh-plus 4S batteries.

That makes it particularly relevant to performance aircraft where more energy reserve is useful but excessive battery mass can reduce acceleration, change center of gravity or increase landing energy.

The compact 105mm length also makes the pack useful for models with limited longitudinal battery-bay space.

Why Choose This Battery?

  • 3200mAh capacity: More energy reserve than common 2200–2600mAh performance packs.
  • Approx. 265g weight: Keeps installed battery mass relatively conservative for a 3200mAh 4S pack.
  • 105mm compact length: Useful for tighter aircraft battery bays.
  • 120C continuous rating: Designed for demanding brushless power systems.
  • XT60 connector: Common power connection for RC airplanes, EDF jets and FPV platforms.
  • 12AWG wiring: Appropriate for high-current 4S applications.
  • LiHV chemistry: Supports up to 17.4V full charge when the complete power system is rated for it.

A Strong 4S Battery Direction for the Skynetic P-12E 1100mm

The CNHL Lightning LiHV 3200mAh 4S 120C is a strong battery direction to consider for the Skynetic P-12E 1100mm biplane.

Its approximately 265g weight and 105 × 32 × 35mm dimensions make the 3200mAh capacity particularly interesting for pilots who want more energy reserve than a typical 2200mAh setup while keeping the battery relatively compact.

The important limitation is voltage. The P-12E is published around standard 4S LiPo operation, so a 4S battery recommendation alone does not prove that the factory ESC is intended for a full 17.4V LiHV charge.

If the ESC maximum input voltage cannot be confirmed above standard 4S LiPo voltage, charge this battery only to 16.8V / 4.20V per cell.

Battery position should also be used to establish the final center of gravity. Moving from a 2200mAh battery to a 3200mAh pack changes both installed mass and the amount of fore-aft adjustment that may be required.

Compare 2200mAh, 3200mAh and 3500mAh options in the Skynetic P-12E 1100mm Battery Guide.

4S Battery Option for Freewing BAC Lightning 64mm EDF

This 3200mAh 4S LiHV pack can also be considered for compatible Freewing BAC Lightning 64mm EDF setups when additional capacity is preferred.

For a compact EDF jet, the benefit of 3200mAh is additional energy reserve, but that must be weighed against battery mass. Larger batteries can affect takeoff distance, acceleration, center of gravity and landing speed.

The approximately 265g weight keeps this pack relatively manageable for its capacity, but physical fit, battery retention and CG should still be confirmed before flight.

If the aircraft's ESC is specified only around standard 4S LiPo voltage, do not assume it supports the full 17.4V LiHV charge.

See additional suitable packs in the Freewing BAC Lightning 64mm Battery Guide.

4S Battery for Sport RC Airplanes

The combination of 3200mAh capacity, approximately 265g weight and compact dimensions also makes this battery relevant to compatible 4S sport aircraft.

Models in the Habu, Turbo Timber, Ultra Stick and similar performance-aircraft categories may use 4S batteries, but individual versions differ in battery-bay dimensions, ESC voltage limits and recommended capacity.

For that reason, these aircraft should be treated as potential applications rather than automatic direct fits. Always verify the exact model version, battery compartment, XT60 connection, installed weight and final CG.

3200mAh vs. 2200mAh 4S Battery

Priority 2200mAh Class 3200mAh Lightning LiHV
Rated Capacity Approx. 2200mAh 3200mAh
Capacity Difference Lower Approx. 45% more rated capacity
Energy Reserve Lower Higher
Installed Mass Typically lower Approx. 265g
Best Direction Lower weight and agile response More energy reserve when the model can carry the added capacity

The 3200mAh battery carries approximately 45% more rated capacity than a 2200mAh pack, but that does not mean 45% longer flight time. Actual duration depends on aircraft weight, throttle use, drag and power-system efficiency.

XT60 Connector and Adapter Notes

This battery uses an XT60 output connector and connects directly only to the corresponding device-side XT60 connection with the correct polarity and orientation.

XT60 is not directly compatible with XT90, EC3, IC3, EC5 or IC5 connector systems. If your specific setup requires conversion between XT90 and XT60, use an appropriately rated adapter such as the XT90 to XT60 Adapter 3-Pack only when the connector gender, polarity and current requirements match your installation.

An adapter should solve an actual connector mismatch; it is not required when the model already uses the corresponding XT60 device-side connector.

LiHV Charging and Maximum Voltage

This is a 4S LiHV battery. A full LiHV charge reaches 4.35V per cell, or 17.40V total.

A standard 4S LiPo reaches only 4.20V per cell, or 16.80V total. That 0.60V difference across the complete pack is important when checking ESC compatibility.

Do not assume that an ESC supports 17.4V simply because it is labeled for 4S operation. Confirm the manufacturer's maximum input-voltage specification before using full LiHV charging.

If full LiHV support has not been confirmed, this pack can be balance charged to the standard LiPo limit of 16.8V / 4.20V per cell.

For routine charging, a balanced 1C rate is preferred. 5C is the stated maximum, not the everyday target.

FAQ

Is this a standard LiPo or LiHV battery?

This is a 4S LiHV battery with a nominal voltage of 15.2V. Maximum full-charge voltage is 17.4V, or 4.35V per cell.

Can I charge this battery only to 16.8V?

Yes. A LiHV battery can be balance charged to the standard 4S LiPo limit of 16.8V when the full 17.4V LiHV voltage is not required or has not been confirmed for the model electronics.

Is this battery suitable for the Skynetic P-12E 1100mm?

It is a strong higher-capacity 4S option to consider. Confirm the 105 × 32 × 35mm dimensions, approximately 265g weight, final CG and ESC maximum input voltage before use.

Can this battery be used in the Freewing BAC Lightning 64mm?

It can be considered as a higher-capacity 4S option when the battery bay, XT60 connection, aircraft balance and ESC voltage limit are suitable.

Why choose 3200mAh instead of 2200mAh?

The 3200mAh pack provides approximately 45% more rated capacity, giving additional energy reserve. A 2200mAh pack is generally lighter, so the better choice depends on the aircraft's CG range and performance priorities.

Does 120C mean the motor always draws extremely high current?

No. 120C is the battery's stated continuous discharge rating. Actual current depends on the motor, ESC, propeller or EDF unit, throttle use and operating conditions.

Does an XT60 battery need an XT90-to-XT60 adapter?

No, not when the model already has the corresponding XT60 device-side connector. An adapter is only required when the actual connector system is different and the adapter is correctly rated for the installation.

Should this battery always be charged at 5C?

No. For routine charging, a balanced 1C rate is preferred. The 5C specification is the stated maximum charge rate, not the everyday target.
