The Hobbywing EZRUN MAX10 G2S 80A brings direct Bluetooth tuning, sensored control and modern thermal management into a compact 2–3S ESC for 1/10 scale RC cars. Designed for on-road cars, buggies, rally cars and light-duty short-course applications, it combines an 80A continuous / 520A peak power stage with a waterproof sensored interface, adjustable high-voltage BEC and direct access to the HW LINK V2 mobile app.

The major G2S convenience upgrade is built directly into the power switch: no separate Bluetooth module is required for normal smartphone setup. Drivers can adjust parameters, update firmware and review operating data from a compatible phone while still retaining an independent programming port for supported Hobbywing programming devices.

Hobbywing recommends using a 3S LiPo or higher when a stable 7.4V / 8.4V BEC output is required. Always confirm the maximum voltage supported by the receiver and servo before changing the BEC setting.

Built-in Bluetooth – No Separate Wireless Module Required

Bluetooth is integrated directly into the MAX10 G2S power switch. Once the ESC is powered on, it can connect directly to the Hobbywing HW LINK V2 mobile app for parameter adjustment, firmware updates and data access without requiring an external Bluetooth programmer for normal app operation.

This makes setup particularly convenient when gearing, punch, braking or other parameters need to be changed at the track. The factory Bluetooth name and password can also be restored through the ESC switch if required.

Integrated Data Logging for Setup and Diagnostics

The MAX10 G2S can record and display useful operating information through HW LINK V2. Drivers can review peak values, real-time operating data and historical curve information to better understand how the ESC and motor are behaving under load.

Depending on the available data channel, information can include throttle position, battery voltage, ESC current, ESC temperature, motor temperature and motor speed. This can be useful when evaluating gearing, cooling, battery load and changes to ESC settings.

Sensored Control with Sensorless Motor Support

The MAX10 G2S supports both sensored and sensorless brushless motors. With a compatible sensored motor, the A, B and C phase wires must be connected to their matching motor phases and the sensor cable must also be installed correctly. If the sensor cable is not connected, even a sensored motor will operate in sensorless mode.

For the 80A model, Hobbywing lists up to KV 6000 on 2S and KV 4200 on 3S within its standard recommended application range, with 3652 / 3665-size motors forming the main motor class for this ESC.

Motor temperature protection: Hobbywing states that motor overheat protection is available only when a supported Hobbywing motor, such as a compatible EZRUN 3652 / 3665 SD G3 motor, is used. Do not assume motor-temperature protection is available with every third-party sensored motor.

Turbo Timing for More Top-End Performance

Turbo Timing can add electrical timing when the throttle reaches full throttle, providing additional motor RPM for high-speed sections. On the MAX10 G2S 80A, Turbo Timing is adjustable up to 20 degrees.

This point is model-specific: the larger MAX10 G2S 140A supports up to 32 degrees, while the 80A version shown here is limited to 20 degrees. Increasing Turbo Timing also increases current draw and operating temperature, so gearing and temperature should be checked after aggressive timing changes.

Intelligent Cooling and Fan Control

A frameless cooling fan works with the integrated heatsink housing to move heat away from the ESC during demanding operation. The fan does not need to run continuously: intelligent temperature-based control allows it to remain off when cooling demand is low and activate as ESC temperature increases.

This helps reduce unnecessary fan noise and power consumption while still providing active cooling when the power system is being pushed harder.

Adjustable 6V / 7.4V / 8.4V BEC

The built-in switch-mode BEC provides a 5A continuous output with three selectable voltage levels: 6.0V, 7.4V and 8.4V. This allows the ESC to work with both conventional receiver electronics and supported high-voltage steering servos.

Do not simply select the highest BEC voltage for more steering power. The receiver, servo and any accessories connected to the receiver bus must all support the selected voltage.

Capacitor Thermal Protection

Capacitor overheating protection adds another layer of protection during high-load use. If the capacitor temperature protection is triggered, the ESC uses a dedicated LED warning pattern to indicate the condition.

This protection works alongside low-voltage protection, ESC overheat protection, motor overheat protection and current protection to help reduce the chance of severe power-system damage when operating conditions move outside the intended range.

IP67 Protection for Real RC Driving Conditions

The MAX10 G2S product material rates the ESC to IP67, with an upgraded waterproof sensor interface designed to improve resistance to water and dust during typical RC use. This makes it better suited to wet tracks, loose dirt and other demanding outdoor conditions than an exposed competition-style ESC.

Water resistance should still not be treated as permission for prolonged underwater operation. Inspect connectors, sensor wiring and the complete power system after wet use, and allow components to dry before storage.

Two Ways to Program the MAX10 G2S

For most users, the simplest method is the built-in Bluetooth connection and HW LINK V2 app. It provides direct access to ESC parameters, firmware updates and data functions from a smartphone.

The ESC also includes a reserved independent three-pin programming interface. Hobbywing specifies support for compatible LCD Pro / LCD G2 Program Box devices and the OTA Programmer, giving users a wired or dedicated-programmer option when preferred.

Key Programmable Functions

Running Mode

Choose Forward with Brake, Forward / Reverse with Brake, or Forward and Reverse depending on the intended vehicle and driving style.

Low-Voltage Cutoff

The ESC provides selectable LiPo low-voltage protection. Hobbywing lists low, medium and high protection thresholds corresponding to approximately 2.8V, 3.1V and 3.4V per cell.

Punch

Punch controls how aggressively motor output responds to throttle input. Higher settings produce stronger acceleration, while lower values can make the vehicle easier to drive on low-traction surfaces.

Drag Brake and Initial Throttle Force

Drag brake controls the braking force applied when the throttle returns to neutral, while initial throttle force can be adjusted to better match traction and drivetrain response.

Turbo Timing

The 80A version supports up to 20° of Turbo Timing. Higher values can increase top-end RPM but also increase electrical and thermal load.

Is the MAX10 G2S 80A Right for Your RC Car?

This version is best considered for 1/10 scale on-road cars, buggies, rally cars and lighter short-course platforms running 2S or 3S LiPo power. It is particularly attractive for builds where smooth sensored response, smartphone adjustment and compact packaging matter more than the higher-current capability of the 140A version.

For heavier 1/10 4WD trucks, monster trucks, higher-current 4S builds or larger 4268-class motors, a higher-capacity ESC such as the MAX10 G2S 140A may be the more appropriate direction.
