8500mAh High-Capacity Power for Demanding 6S and 12S Builds

The main advantage of this 8500mAh 6S LiHV battery is its substantial 193.8Wh nominal energy capacity. For large RC platforms that can accommodate an approximately 962g pack, the additional capacity provides more stored energy than smaller 5000–7000mAh batteries and can support longer operation under comparable loads.

Its 120C continuous discharge rating, EC5 connector and 10AWG wiring position it for demanding high-power applications. Actual current delivery and performance depend on the entire electrical system, operating conditions and connector limits; the C rating alone does not guarantee a specific current draw or performance increase.

Why Choose This Battery?

  • 8500mAh capacity: Large energy reserve for high-power applications where additional runtime is valuable.
  • 193.8Wh nominal energy: Substantial stored energy for large 6S RC power systems.
  • 120C continuous / 240C burst rating: Specified for demanding high-discharge applications.
  • EC5 connector: Compatible with IC5 main power connections when voltage, polarity and system requirements match.
  • 10AWG power wires: Heavy-gauge wiring for high-current RC installations.
  • LiHV chemistry: Supports a maximum of 4.35V per cell when the complete power system is rated for the higher voltage.
  • Dual-pack capability: Two matched 6S batteries can be used in purpose-built 12S systems with suitable electrical and mechanical protection.

12S Battery Option for Losi 5IVE-TE 3.0 Electric Desert Truck

The Losi 5IVE-TE 3.0 1/5-scale electric desert truck uses two 6S batteries for 12S operation. A matched pair of these CNHL 8500mAh EC5 packs provides 45.6V nominal, 8500mAh and 387.6Wh in series. The EC5 main power contacts are compatible with the truck's IC5 connections.

The stock truck specifies hardcase battery installation, while this pack is softcase. Verify both battery trays, protective mounting and secure retention before use. For stock 12S electronics, do not assume that the higher 52.2V LiHV full-charge voltage is supported; confirm the ESC limit or charge to the standard 50.4V 12S LiPo limit. Explore the Losi 5IVE-TE 3.0 Battery Collection.

High-Capacity 6S Battery for Large RC Aircraft and EDF Jets

For compatible large RC aircraft, custom electric airplanes and EDF installations, this 8500mAh 6S LiHV battery offers substantial energy capacity where the airframe can safely carry a nearly 1kg pack. Verify battery bay dimensions, center of gravity, secure mounting, cooling and ESC input voltage. Smaller sport aircraft and weight-sensitive EDF jets may be better served by lighter 6S batteries.

Hangar 9 Carbon Cub 15cc EP PNP: Battery Fitment Considerations

The Hangar 9 Carbon Cub 15cc EP PNP uses a 6S electric power system with a published 4000–7000mAh battery range. This 8500mAh LiHV battery exceeds that range, making it a nonstandard high-capacity option rather than a straightforward replacement.

Before considering this approximately 962g pack, confirm battery bay clearance, secure installation, acceptable CG and ESC voltage compatibility. For batteries closer to the manufacturer's recommended range, explore the Hangar 9 Carbon Cub 15cc EP PNP Battery Collection.

EC5 and IC5 Connector Compatibility

EC5 and IC5 are physically compatible for the main positive and negative power connection. This makes the CNHL EC5 battery relevant to compatible IC5-equipped RC systems when voltage, polarity, current requirements and physical installation all match.

This conventional CNHL LiHV battery does not provide Spektrum Smart battery identification or Smart battery data. EC5/IC5 compatibility also does not guarantee that the stock ESC supports full LiHV voltage. For high-current 12S builds, inspect connector condition and temperature, and use appropriately rated wiring throughout the power system.

6S LiHV Balance Charging: 26.1V vs 25.2V

This is a 22.8V nominal 6S LiHV battery. When charged using a compatible LiHV balance charger, its maximum charge voltage is 4.35V per cell, or 26.1V total. Only use this higher voltage when the complete motor and ESC system explicitly supports it.

If full LiHV voltage compatibility has not been confirmed, the battery can be balance-charged to the standard LiPo limit of 4.20V per cell, or 25.2V total. This provides a lower maximum pack voltage for systems designed around conventional 6S LiPo batteries.

For routine charging, a balanced 1C rate is preferred. 5C is the stated maximum, not the everyday target. For this 8500mAh pack, 1C equals 8.5A. Use a charger with adequate power output and a suitable EC5 charging lead.

Important for 12S systems: Two matched 6S LiHV batteries connected in series reach 52.2V when fully charged in LiHV mode, compared with 50.4V when charged to the standard LiPo limit. Do not exceed the maximum input voltage specified for the ESC or other connected electronics.

FAQ

Can two 8500mAh 6S batteries be used for a 12S setup?

Yes, in a compatible 12S system. Two matched 8500mAh 6S packs connected in series provide 45.6V nominal and retain 8500mAh capacity. Maximum voltage is 50.4V at the standard LiPo charging limit or 52.2V when fully charged in LiHV mode. Confirm that the ESC and all electrical components support the selected voltage.

Is this battery suitable for the Losi 5IVE-TE 3.0?

It is a high-capacity electrical option for a matched dual-6S 12S setup. The EC5 connector is compatible with the truck's IC5 main power connections. However, the stock vehicle specifies hardcase batteries, so this softcase pack requires appropriate protection, tray fitment and secure mounting. Confirm ESC maximum voltage before selecting LiHV charging mode.

Can this battery be used in the Hangar 9 Carbon Cub 15cc EP PNP?

It exceeds the aircraft's published 4000–7000mAh battery range. Its use requires additional verification of battery space, weight, CG and ESC voltage compatibility. A lighter battery within the stated range is generally the more straightforward option.

What is the difference between 6S LiHV and standard 6S LiPo?

A 6S LiHV battery has a nominal voltage of 22.8V and can be charged to 26.1V. A standard 6S LiPo battery has a nominal voltage of 22.2V and a maximum charge voltage of 25.2V. The higher LiHV charging voltage must be supported by the complete power system.

Can I charge this LiHV battery using standard LiPo mode?

Yes. Use a compatible balance charger set to 6S standard LiPo with a maximum of 4.20V per cell, or 25.2V total. This is an appropriate option when higher LiHV voltage compatibility has not been confirmed.

Does the EC5 connector work with IC5-equipped RC vehicles?

Yes, for the main positive and negative power connection when polarity and system requirements match. This CNHL battery does not provide Spektrum Smart battery data or communication features.

Does the 120C rating mean this battery always delivers extremely high current?

No. The 120C value is the stated continuous discharge rating, not the actual operating current. Current demand depends on the motor, ESC, gearing, propeller or drivetrain load, wiring and operating conditions.

What is the recommended charging current?

For routine charging, a balanced 1C rate is preferred, equal to 8.5A for this battery. 5C is the stated maximum, not the everyday target.
