The recommended KV figures are standard-application recommendations based on motor RPM capability and actual vehicle load. They should not be interpreted as the absolute maximum motor RPM that the ESC can electronically support.

Built-In Bluetooth – Tune the ESC Directly from Your Phone

The MAX10 G2S integrates its Bluetooth module directly into the power switch, removing the need for a separate wireless programming module for normal smartphone setup. Connect the ESC to the HW LINK V2 App to adjust parameters, review operating data and install supported firmware updates.

This is one of the key differences between the G2S platform and ESCs that require an optional OTA module simply to establish a wireless connection. For drivers who frequently change gearing, battery voltage, braking or throttle characteristics, direct app access makes setup considerably easier at the bench or track.

Integrated Data Logging for Power-System Analysis

The ESC can record and display operating information through the HW LINK V2 App, helping drivers understand what the power system is actually doing rather than relying only on vehicle feel.

Available information can include items such as throttle input, ESC voltage, current, ESC temperature, motor temperature and RPM, depending on the installed system. Peak records, real-time data and historical curve information can be reviewed from the app.

This is particularly useful when experimenting with motor KV, gearing, Turbo timing or different battery voltages. A setup that feels fast may also be placing significantly more thermal or electrical load on the ESC and motor, so recorded data can help guide more informed tuning decisions.

Efficient Cooling for High-Load 1/10 Applications

A 140A ESC used with a powerful 3S or 4S setup can generate considerable heat, especially in heavier monster trucks and short-course platforms. The MAX10 G2S combines its heatsink structure with a high-airflow cooling fan to move heat away from the electronics during demanding running.

The fan is powered from the BEC circuit and works together with the ESC's thermal-management system to help maintain a more stable operating temperature.

Adjustable 6V / 7.4V / 8.4V BEC

The built-in switch-mode BEC provides a 5A continuous output and allows the output voltage to be selected between 6.0V, 7.4V and 8.4V. This gives builders flexibility when matching the ESC with conventional servos or compatible high-voltage steering servos.

BEC Setup Note: Do not select a BEC voltage higher than the maximum operating voltage supported by the receiver, steering servo or other receiver-side electronics. Hobbywing also recommends using 3S LiPo or higher when stable 7.4V or 8.4V BEC output is required, because a 2S battery may not maintain enough input voltage as it discharges.

Intelligent Fan Control

The cooling fan does not need to run continuously. Intelligent fan control keeps the fan off while ESC temperature remains low and activates it when the thermal threshold is reached.

This reduces unnecessary fan noise and power consumption while still supplying airflow when the ESC is working harder. It is a particularly useful feature in mixed-use vehicles that may alternate between moderate cruising and sustained high-load acceleration.

Up to 32° Turbo Timing

The 140A MAX10 G2S supports Turbo timing adjustment up to 32°. Turbo timing increases motor timing at high throttle to provide additional top-end RPM, making it especially relevant to performance-oriented on-road, short-course and high-speed truck setups.

When used with suitable Hobbywing EZRUN G3 motors, Hobbywing's feature material describes a maximum-RPM increase of up to approximately 25% under the appropriate setup. Actual results depend heavily on motor, battery voltage, gearing, tires, vehicle weight and load.

Turbo Timing Warning: More timing is not free power. Increasing Turbo timing also increases motor and ESC current draw and operating temperature. Start conservatively, monitor temperatures and reduce timing or gearing if the power system runs excessively hot.

IP67 Protection for Real RC Truck Conditions

The MAX10 G2S uses Hobbywing's upgraded waterproof sensor-interface design and is intended for operation in demanding RC environments where water, dust, mud or wet surfaces may be encountered.

This makes the ESC well suited to short-course trucks and monster trucks that are not restricted to clean indoor surfaces. As with any waterproof RC electronics, however, waterproof construction should not be treated as permission for prolonged submersion. Connectors, motors, receivers and other components must also be suitable for the environment.

Capacitor Thermal Protection

High-current acceleration places substantial stress on an ESC's capacitor system. The MAX10 G2S incorporates capacitor overheat protection as another layer of power-system protection.

If abnormal capacitor temperature is detected, the ESC can enter a protection state rather than continuing to operate unchecked under excessive thermal load. The ESC also provides protection functions for low battery voltage, ESC overheating, supported motor overheating, signal loss and excessive current.

Bluetooth or External Programmer – Two Ways to Tune

For most users, the built-in Bluetooth connection and HW LINK V2 App will be the easiest way to configure the MAX10 G2S. The ESC also includes a reserved independent programming port, giving experienced users the option of working with supported Hobbywing programming hardware.

According to the MAX10 G2S manual, the independent programming interface can support devices such as the LCD Pro / G2 Program Box and OTA Programmer. This means the ESC is not locked into a smartphone-only workflow.

2S, 3S or 4S – Choosing the Right Motor

The MAX10 G2S 140A covers a relatively wide performance range, but battery voltage and motor KV must be considered together. Increasing battery voltage while keeping an excessively high-KV motor can push motor RPM, current and temperature beyond a sensible level.

2S LiPo KV ≤ 6000 with a 3652-size motor. Suitable for high-RPM 2S builds where compact motor size and strong acceleration are priorities.
3S LiPo KV ≤ 4000 with a 3665-size motor. A strong middle-ground configuration for powerful 1/10 trucks and short-course applications.
4S LiPo KV ≤ 2600 with a 4268-size motor. Intended for higher-voltage, higher-torque applications where the chassis, drivetrain, gearing and tires are designed to handle the additional power.

The published KV values are recommendations for standard applications rather than a universal guarantee for every vehicle. Tire diameter, gearing, vehicle weight, ambient temperature and driving style all influence actual ESC and motor load.

Sensored and Sensorless Brushless Motor Support

The EZRUN MAX10 G2S 140A can operate both sensored and sensorless brushless motors. When a compatible sensored motor is connected correctly through the sensor interface, the system can provide more precise low-speed response and smoother throttle control.

For sensored operation, the A/B/C motor phases must be connected to their corresponding A/B/C ESC outputs and the sensor cable must also be connected. A sensored motor used without the sensor cable will operate in sensorless mode.

Motor-overheat protection also requires a supported Hobbywing sensored motor capable of providing the necessary temperature information. It should not be assumed that this protection remains available with every third-party motor.

What RC Vehicles Is the MAX10 G2S 140A For?

This ESC is primarily aimed at higher-output 1/10 short-course trucks, trucks and monster trucks. Its 140A current rating and 4S capability position it above lightweight 2S-only racing ESCs, while its compact 53 × 39.5 × 37.2mm dimensions keep it within a conventional 1/10-class footprint.

It can be a strong upgrade direction for custom builds that need more current headroom, sensored control, 3S or 4S capability and smartphone tuning, provided the chassis has enough space and the drivetrain is suitable for the intended power level.

What to Check Before Buying

  • Battery voltage: use only a supported 2S, 3S or 4S LiPo configuration.
  • Motor size and KV: compare your motor with the recommended limits for the selected battery voltage.
  • ESC mounting space: allow for the 53 × 39.5 × 37.2mm ESC body plus wiring and airflow around the fan.
  • Battery connector: confirm the connector and current-rating requirements of your complete power system before installation.
  • Servo voltage: select 6V, 7.4V or 8.4V only after confirming the receiver and servo specifications.
  • Drivetrain: 4S power can place much higher loads on gears, shafts, differentials and tires than a typical 2S setup.
  • Gearing and temperature: monitor ESC and motor temperatures whenever changing voltage, motor KV, gearing or Turbo timing.
