The Hobbywing QUICRUN 10BL120 Sensored G2 is a 120A brushless electronic speed controller developed for performance-oriented 1/10 touring cars, drift cars and buggies. It supports both sensored and sensorless brushless motors, with true sensored operation available when the ESC is connected to a compatible motor through the six-pin sensor cable.

Compared with the smaller QUICRUN 10BL60 Sensored G2, this model provides substantially greater current capacity and supports both 2S and 3S LiPo power systems. Programmable Boost and Turbo timing, adjustable motor rotation, a selectable 6V/7.4V switch-mode BEC and multiple programming methods give builders more control over acceleration, top speed, braking and steering-electronics performance.

Important: this ESC is not waterproof. Boost and Turbo timing must not be used with a 3S battery. The ESC is supplied without battery or motor connectors, so suitable connectors must be soldered before installation.

Core Description

The QUICRUN 10BL120 Sensored G2 combines a high-current 120A hardware platform with the smoother startup and low-speed response of a sensored brushless system. It is designed for builders who need more power capacity than a 60A ESC but still want the accessible programming and value-focused positioning of the Hobbywing QuicRun series.

In a correctly connected sensored system, the ESC receives rotor-position data through the sensor cable. This improves startup consistency and low-speed throttle control, which can be particularly valuable in touring-car corner exits, technical buggy sections and controlled drift transitions.

The ESC can also run a sensorless brushless motor. In sensorless mode, the motor sensor cable is not used, and motor direction can be changed by swapping any two phase wires.

Why Choose the QUICRUN 10BL120 Sensored G2?

120A Current Platform

Provides greater current capacity for higher-performance 1/10 brushless systems.

True Sensored Operation

Delivers smoother startup and more predictable low-speed throttle response with a compatible sensored motor.

2S and 3S LiPo Support

Supports common 1/10 racing voltage and higher-voltage sport configurations when correctly matched.

Boost and Turbo Timing

Provides up to 32° of programmable electronic timing when the ESC is operated on 2S.

Selectable 6V/7.4V BEC

Supports standard-voltage or compatible high-voltage steering servos.

Adjustable Motor Rotation

Allows clockwise or counterclockwise rotation without crossing phase wires in sensored mode.

120A Continuous and 760A Peak Current

The 120A continuous rating gives the 10BL120 Sensored G2 more electrical headroom than the QUICRUN 10BL60 Sensored G2. This makes it better suited to faster touring, drift and buggy combinations using lower-turn 3650 motors within the official limits.

The 760A peak figure represents short-duration current capability rather than a safe continuous operating target. Actual load depends on battery voltage, motor turns, gearing, vehicle mass, drivetrain resistance, tire diameter, traction and timing settings.

Temperature still matters: a higher current rating does not remove the need to check motor and ESC temperature. Stop operation if the ESC casing exceeds 90°C / 194°F, and reduce gearing, timing or motor load before further use.

2S and 3S Motor Selection

The official turn limits apply to a standard 3650-size, two-pole motor with ESC timing set to 0°. They should be treated as minimum motor-turn recommendations rather than universal fitment guarantees.

Battery Motor Recommendation Boost/Turbo Typical Direction
2S LiPo 3650 two-pole motor, 4.5T or higher Supported; increase gradually Touring, drift and performance buggy setups
3S LiPo 3650 two-pole motor, 10.5T or higher Must remain disabled Higher-voltage sport setups with conservative gearing

A 3S battery increases motor RPM and electrical load even when the motor has a higher turn count. Start with conservative gearing and inspect motor, ESC and battery temperature after short test runs.

Sensored and Sensorless Motor Connections

A sensored motor must be wired in the correct phase sequence. Connect ESC phase A to motor phase A, B to B and C to C, then connect the stock six-pin sensor cable between the ESC and motor sensor ports.

Do not reverse a sensored motor by swapping phase wires. Use the programmable Motor Rotation setting instead. Incorrect phase sequencing can cause abnormal operation and may damage the ESC.

Motor Setup Phase Wiring Sensor Cable Reverse Direction
Sensored A-to-A, B-to-B, C-to-C Required Change Motor Rotation setting
Sensorless No fixed phase sequence Not used Swap any two motor wires

Adjustable 6V/7.4V BEC

The built-in switch-mode BEC supplies 4A continuous output and can be set to either 6V or 7.4V. The supplied product graphic states that peak output can reach 7A.

6V Output

Use with standard-voltage receivers and steering servos.

7.4V Output

Use only when the receiver, servo and connected accessories all support high-voltage operation.

Do not set the BEC above the maximum operating voltage of the steering servo or receiver. An incompatible 7.4V setting may damage the connected electronics.

Boost and Turbo Timing up to 32 Degrees

Boost and Turbo timing allow the user to alter electronic motor timing and extract more speed from a suitable 2S system. Both functions can be adjusted from 0° to 32°.

Boost Timing

Boost timing operates throughout the throttle range. The ESC dynamically changes timing in relation to throttle input, affecting speed on both straights and flowing sections.

Turbo Timing

Turbo timing operates at full throttle and increases maximum motor RPM. The Turbo Delay setting controls how long full throttle must be held before Turbo timing activates.

3S restriction: Boost and Turbo timing must not be used with a 3S battery. When operating on 3S, set both values to 0°.

Function Operating Area Maximum Setting Primary Effect
Boost Timing Across the throttle range 32° Broader speed and throttle-range response increase
Turbo Timing At full throttle 32° Additional top-end RPM and straight-line speed

Higher timing increases current draw and operating temperature. Start at 0°, make small adjustments and check the ESC, motor and battery after every meaningful change.

Motor Rotation Adjustment

The Motor Rotation parameter allows clockwise or counterclockwise operation to suit different chassis and drivetrain layouts.

When viewing the motor shaft from the front, a CCW setting rotates the shaft counterclockwise and a CW setting rotates it clockwise. Many RC vehicles move forward with counterclockwise rotation, but some layouts require the opposite direction.

Multiple Programming Methods

The ESC provides three practical parameter-adjustment routes:

  • Onboard SET button: supports throttle calibration, parameter adjustment and factory reset.
  • LED Program Box: offers quicker item and value selection through a wired connection.
  • LCD G2 Program Box or LCD Program Box Pro: provides screen-based parameter adjustment.

To use a program box, switch off the ESC and connect the ESC throttle cable to the programming-box interface with the correct polarity. Power on the ESC, select the required item and value, then save the setting.

OTA programming, WiFi Express and firmware updating are not supported.

Throttle Calibration

Throttle calibration is required when the ESC is first installed and whenever the transmitter, receiver, endpoints or throttle trim are changed.

  1. Turn on the transmitter and set throttle D/R, EPA and ATL to 100% with throttle trim at neutral.
  2. Switch off the ESC.
  3. Hold the SET button while switching on the ESC.
  4. Release SET immediately when the red LED begins flashing.
  5. Store neutral, full throttle and full brake positions in sequence by pressing SET at each position.

Remove the pinion gear or keep all driven wheels clear of the ground while calibrating or programming the ESC.
