4500mAh 6S LiHV: A Balance Between Power and Aircraft Weight
Choosing a larger battery does not always improve an RC airplane's overall flight setup. Additional capacity also adds mass, potentially changing takeoff weight, center of gravity and landing characteristics.
The CNHL Lightning 4500mAh 6S 120C LiHV provides 102.6Wh of nominal energy at approximately 573g. For aircraft that support this battery size, it offers a useful middle ground between smaller lightweight packs and heavier, higher-capacity 6S alternatives.
Why Choose This Battery?
-
4500mAh capacity: Balances stored energy against installed battery weight.
-
Approx. 573g: A practical option for aircraft where battery mass affects CG and handling.
-
120C continuous rating: Designed for demanding 6S electric power systems.
-
EC5 connector: Physically compatible with IC5 for main positive and negative power.
-
10AWG wiring: Supports the battery's high-current application.
-
LiHV chemistry: Offers a higher maximum charging voltage when the complete system supports it.
-
144mm pack length: Compact enough for selected 6S aircraft battery compartments, subject to fit checks.
6S Battery for E-flite P-51D Mustang "Big Beautiful Doll" 1.5m
The CNHL Lightning LiHV 4500mAh 6S EC5 is a relevant lightweight battery option for the E-flite P-51D Mustang "Big Beautiful Doll" 1.5m. Its approximately 573g weight offers an alternative to heavier 5000mAh-plus packs, while the EC5 connector is physically compatible with the aircraft's IC5 main power connection.
Confirm the 144 × 45 × 45mm pack fits securely on the battery tray and verify the aircraft's 124–137mm CG range. For the stock power system, use the standard 25.2V charging limit unless full 26.1V LiHV compatibility is confirmed. Explore more choices in the E-flite P-51D Mustang 1.5m Battery Collection.
4500mAh 6S Battery for Hangar 9 Valiant 20cc EP PNP
The Hangar 9 Valiant 20cc EP PNP is another relevant aircraft for pilots considering a 4500mAh 6S setup. This capacity can be useful when a lighter battery is preferred over a larger 5200–6200mAh pack, provided the selected power system supports the voltage and current requirements.
Check battery-bay dimensions, installed weight, connector compatibility and final CG before flight. Compare more choices in the Hangar 9 Valiant 20cc EP PNP Battery Collection.
6S LiHV Battery for EDF Jets and Sport Aircraft
This 4500mAh battery is also relevant to compatible 90mm EDF jets, sport airplanes, aerobatic aircraft and scale electric airplanes where 6S voltage, approximately 573g battery weight and EC5 connectivity suit the complete installation.
EDF and fixed-wing applications require careful checks of battery-bay clearance, power-system load, cooling, aircraft balance and secure battery retention. A 6S rating alone does not confirm full LiHV compatibility.
EC5 and IC5 Connector Compatibility
EC5 and IC5 connectors are physically compatible for the main positive and negative power connection. This battery can supply normal main power through a corresponding IC5 connection when connector orientation and polarity are correct.
However, this CNHL battery does not include Spektrum Smart battery electronics, so Smart data and telemetry functions are not provided.
LiHV Charging and Maximum Voltage
This is a 6S LiHV battery. When using a compatible LiHV balance charger, the full-charge voltage is 4.35V per cell, or 26.1V total.
Standard 6S LiPo charging reaches 4.20V per cell, or 25.2V total. Do not assume that every 6S ESC is approved for the higher LiHV maximum voltage.
When full LiHV compatibility has not been established, the battery may be balance charged to the standard 25.2V LiPo limit instead.
For routine charging, a balanced 1C rate is preferred. 5C is the stated maximum, not the everyday target.

FAQ
Is this battery suitable for the E-flite P-51D Mustang 1.5m?
It is a relevant 4500mAh 6S option when the 144 × 45 × 45mm dimensions, approximately 573g weight and aircraft CG requirements are satisfied. EC5 is physically compatible with the Mustang's IC5 main power connector.
Can I use this battery in the Hangar 9 Valiant 20cc EP PNP?
It may suit compatible 6S Valiant configurations when battery dimensions, installed weight, ESC requirements and connector setup are appropriate.
Why choose 4500mAh instead of 5200mAh or 6200mAh?
A 4500mAh pack may reduce installed battery weight compared with larger alternatives. The trade-off is less stored energy, so the better choice depends on CG, flying weight, power demand and desired flight duration.
What is the maximum voltage of this 6S LiHV battery?
It can reach 26.1V when fully charged in LiHV mode, compared with 25.2V at the standard 6S LiPo charge limit.
Is EC5 compatible with IC5?
Yes. EC5 and IC5 are physically compatible for main power. This CNHL battery does not provide Spektrum Smart battery data.
Can this battery be used in 90mm EDF jets?
It is a candidate for compatible 6S EDF aircraft when the recommended battery range, dimensions, weight, connector and ESC voltage limits all match.
Does 120C mean the aircraft always draws extremely high current?
No. 120C is the battery's stated continuous discharge rating. Actual current depends on the motor, ESC, propeller or EDF load, aircraft weight and throttle use.
Should this battery always be charged at 5C?
No. For routine charging, a balanced 1C rate is preferred. 5C is the stated maximum, not the everyday target.
